QUOTING: "if a wmd doesn't fall in the forest..."
He has them. The danger is imminent. We have to act now. Or not. In the run-up to the war with Iraq, the question of Saddam's weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) was THE central focus. But none have been found, and increasingly, there are questions about whether the intelligence was just wrong, or perhaps more troubling, was manipulated to serve a political end. Co-worker Phil has some interesting thoughts on the WMD issue. Briefly, Phil writes...
All together now: Saddam was a murderous tyrant whom his people are well rid of. But how does the world, and history, judge a government that does the right thing for the wrong reasons? Is it even possible, or does having the wrong reasons, in the end, corrupt the right thing done?

Christina... My mother would tell me as a child (when I'd say that I 'hated' someone) that hate, as an emotion, is as strong as 'love', and that to actually hate someone meant that at some point I would have also have had to have loved them. Following that logic (which was a great lesson, of course, as a kid) I submit: Were you once in love with George W. Bush :-)
Ok ok... I rarely, if ever, use the word "hate". Let's just say I am completely disgusted with this administration, but what else is new. Oh...FYI, the VA (Veteran's Administration), where I qualified for an IT position, has "due to projected payroll shortages, initiated an immediate nationwide hiring freeze."
Bush can send 'em to war but when it comes to supporting the Vets and the administration that runs their benefits, he doesn't follow through. Eh, what do you expect from a C-average, AWOL, grammatically incorrect, President.
I agree that the 'regime change' will in time be the 'right' or 'good' thing. However, I completely agree with Phil about the means used to get to the end. And, the end has not even arrived. We have more of our soldiers dying weekly in the poorly coordinated and seemingly unplanned aftermath of nation building in Iraq. I believe a President with a finer grasp on world politics and history could have inspired more of the world to back us in the efforts to dethrone Saddam. I don't agree with how long the UN was taking, but a wiser President would have pushed for a more timely resolution with a better outcome.
When do we impeach Bush?
At least our dear President finds time to take in a vacation during this huge economic crisis. After all, you need a break now and then on your 6-acre family compound to play golf and ride Segways. Stress relief is critical to one's health.
...wonder what type of vacations all of the laid-off Americans will be taking this summer...
