FOUR FOR FRIDAY
Do allegations, firings, and resignations at the New York Times, involving reporters fabricating news and taking quotes out of context, cause you to question whether the Times or other newspapers are accurate and truthful?
No. For quite some time now Iíve had a discontented view of all news sources (with very few exceptions), including daily newspapers. The New York Times, as far as Iím concerned, is no worse of a source for accurate and authentic news and information today than it was one year ago. Frankly, I feel that all of the focus and deliberation thatís been placed on the NYT (both by the Times itself and others in popular media) is absurd.
Are you worried about the SARS virus?
While the virus itself doesnít worry me from a personal health standpoint, its domino effect on Asian economies and our own certainly is a cause for concern.
In which city would you like most to have a vacation?
San FranciscoÖ itís easy to navigate by foot, close to the water, geographically diverse, visually appealing, and packed with energetic people who make tourist traps feel like anything but.
Do you think some of the 505 home runs Sammy Sosa has hit over his career came as a result of him cheating by using a corked bat?
For Godís sake, yes! How could anyone not think so?
Bonus Question: Does it bother you when the 13th day of the month falls on a Friday?
No, not at all. I actually think it's cause for celebration and a time for throwing caution to the wind.
For all of you reading this posting, what are your answers to today's "Four for Friday" questions. Don't be shy!

I agree with you on San Francisco as a great vacation spot. I just wish I had more time to see everything the last time I was there!
Sya... I agree wholeheartedly. The first and only time I was in San Fran was around one year ago, and I was in town for business purposes. What little time I did have to see the city was from a tour bus (actually, one of the best ways to see a city as diverse in geography as the city by the bay). I can't wait to go back. Who's With Me?
Your comments on San Francisco are making me wish for winter when I'll be going for the ACA National Conference (thanks to your efforts)! Although February probably isn't the best time for a visit there and I won't have much free time available, I'm still grateful for the opportunity to check it out.
I have heard great things about Frisco but I have never been. Just spent a vacation in "The Florida Keys" and can't think of a better spot than that.
San Fran ROCKS!!! That's a loaded exclamation, please infer. JJ, I agree, the Keys are phenomenal. Did you see any Key Deer? They're soooo cute. But...none of you answered the questions at hand, kids:
Do allegations, firings, and resignations at the New York Times, involving reporters fabricating news and taking quotes out of context, cause you to question whether the Times or other newspapers are accurate and truthful?
No. I hardly ever read their content anyhow. I like their paper, becuase I like their layout. But, I only pick it up if someone has left it lying about. I have a similar, natural skepticism of media as does Mikal. I feel too often, the 'truth' is provided for us, rather than the facts.
Are you worried about the SARS virus?
No. But, it makes for a great joke when your on the Long Island express train. Just start coughing....watch the people scurry to other seats.
In which city would you like most to have a vacation?
Portland is probably next for me. I was supposed to move there about 3 years ago, but never went for a visit. I've heard wonderful things about the area and I can't wait to see if it fits me. I also NEED to go back to NYC; I missed FAR too much during my last visit.
Do you think some of the 505 home runs Sammy Sosa has hit over his career came as a result of him cheating by using a corked bat?
Yes, I'm sure that he corked more often. Those stupid-ass baseball players are all scum. They refuse to ban steroids, they bring cheating into any aspect they can (pitchers and their silly tricks), and they act like 3 year olds when they get caught. Fess up, guys! You're all assholes, and most of you couldn't play at 'your level' if it weren't for the cheating.
Bonus Question: Does it bother you when the 13th day of the month falls on a Friday?
No, they've always seemed to be good days for me.
I just want to know who still watches baseball????
I want to know how y'all got into college without following directions??? You lose 250 pts on the SAT for not following instructions. Come on kids...!!! Answer: mouth breathers still watch baseball.
Don't you mean "Open-mouth breathers"?
Chatty little crew of posters, I see. As far as I'm concerned, the NY Times remains at the top of list for accuracy, depth, coverage, and independence. I am NOT worried about SARS - we have bigger epidemics - that disporoprtionately KILL people - to worry about, such as AIDS/HIV, cancer, and leukemia. I've never been to SF, but I'd love to go. Mikal - tell me when you want to go. Sammy's homers are as legitimate as everyone else's. (You can read that however you wish - it makes no difference to me). I actually like Fridays the 13th. I didn't even realize it this time around until an appointment in the afternoon made mention of the fact. As Mikal (& Kajagoogoo say, don't be "too shy."
Lee...thanks for following instructions!!!
