FOUR FOR FRIDAY

Q: The holiday season is upon us. Do you look forward to the holidays? Why or why not?

MB's A: I love the holidays and always look forward to this time of the year. For me the holidays start the Monday before Thanksgiving, when I start to notice fewer and fewer cars on the road and not as many people coming to and from work. I like the festive spirit and the lights, and the generally accepted notion that itís okay to be friendly toward your fellow man and woman. Itís just a special time of the year, and I always look forward to it. For most of my life Iíve lived in a region of the country where the holiday season is christened with a chill in the air and snow on the ground ñ both of which I also look forward to.

Q: If the necessary money and space were available to you, what one thing would you add to your bedroom?

MB's A: Either a really tricked out hot tub/Jacuzzi/steam room sort of set up, or ample room for a championship level ping-pong table (along with the ping-pong table itself, of course).

Q: If you could change one law -- at either the local, state, or federal level -- which law would you change?

MB's A: Without doing a tremendous amount of research into the far reaching impacts of dumb federal laws, Iíd start right here in Indiana by changing IC 14-22-9-1, which covers the unlawful means of taking fish, and reads as follows:

Sec. 1. (a) Except as allowed by section 3 of this chapter, a person may not take fish from waters containing state owned fish, waters of the state, or boundary waters of the state by the following:

(1) Means of: (A) a weir; (B) an electric current; (C) dynamite or other explosive; (D) a net; (E) a seine; (F) a trap; or (G) any other substance that has a tendency to stupefy or poison fish.

(2) Means of the following: (A) A firearm; (B) A crossbow; (C) The hands alone.

It seems to me that the taking of fish by oneís hands is by far the most humane method possible. What should be outlawed, in my opinion, is recreationally-motivated catch and release fishing.

Q: How often do you cut your fingernails?

MB's A: Not as often as I should. Just to be safe, in addition to keeping nail clippers in my bathroom, I keep some at the office, which is where I usually notice that I havenít been keeping up with them as much as I should. In an ideal world Iíd clip them every Sunday, or thereabouts. As is, I think I do it every couple of weeks or so, which is probably three or four days too many.

Comments:

1. I love the holidays. I love the lights, the business, the smells, the get togethers, the music. I love how it can bring the best out in people. I love the spirit of Christmas - helping others and taking time to appreciate people and your family. I could go on......
2. I sleep in my bedroom, now ask me about my office or my sewing room.
3. I would change the Golden Parachute Law that entitles our Congressmen and women to love like Kings and Queens and to not worry about the common person's old age retirement. Ticks me off!!
4. Every other week. They are filed.

1. I always look forward to "holiday's" (Christmas being one), especially the ritual celebrations. There are so many traditions in the faithful surrounding this holiday, it's wonderous to see all the variety.

2. I echo Cindra's comment. Can't really say there is anything else I need and/or want in the bedroom.

3. That goofy law that says "thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife"...oh, wait...or was that just Alabama law?! But, really...I wouldn't mind seeing more federal constitutional law separating church/state a little more. Not so much to keep religion out of government, but the other way around. I don't want to see the government dictating religion. Compensation law is another great area that could use some attention. Keep those high-dollar salaries/separation deals/packages away from executives that abuse them!

4. Every week, but usually rock climbing keeps the short enough.

Q1 - Well, I don't go home for Thanksgiving but I do take off for Christmas. I no longer have to think about school.

Q2 - A paint job.

Q3 - I'll have to think about this one.

Q4 - Very often. I don't like long fingernails at all.

1. I always look forward to the holidays and the accoutrements. However, I'm usually very slow about decorating my own spaces. I enjoy spending time with my family and my extended family of friends. I usually go home to Missouri for the holidays, but am here already this year, so no plane tip! Yeah!
2. A luxury bathroom complete with glass shower, double-sinks, jacuzzi, and closet.
3. Well, since Bowers v. Hardwick was overturned, thereby leaglizing sodomy and affirming consensual gay relationships, I'd probably eliminate all of the Charitable Choice legislation or any restrictions on abortion.
4. Probably at least once a week. I keep my nails very short, neat, and trimmed.

1 - Bah. Humbug. Except for the candy. From Haloween to Easter, the candy is good.

2 - Zen alarm clock that culminates with kicking my butt out of bed and handing me a diet Coke.

3 - E.R.A.

4 - Never. I am a habitual nailbiter.

1. No. I have to change into my male cloths when I go over there for the holidays. They don?t accept Diana.

2. Re-tile the shower stall. If you ever buy a house make sure that they use cement board instead of blue board for the tile base.

3. All of the other comments are very good; the golden parachute, separation of church and state, the ERA amendment and I would add, the Human Right Amendment ( including gender ) and also same-sex marriage.

4. I file, I don?t cut and keep them a little longer then the ends of my fingers.
