"#34 - It's All about the Branding" reviewed the brand value of Apple Computer. An analyst, Gobe, argued that, in some cases, branding has become as powerful as religion. "People's connections with brands transcend commerce," he said. Gobe cited Nike, which sparked customers' ire when it was revealed the company's products were assembled in sweatshops. "They were not pissed about the products," Gobe said. "It's about the company's ethics. It's interesting how emotionally involved people are."
"Take the iPod, it brings an emotional, sensory experience to computing," Gobe said. "Apple's design is people-driven." That's why people swear by Macs - or other niche products or brands.
Branding is very important, indeed. Look at colleges, even. Depending on the product - elite education, sports - it's very revealing: the Ivy League, the Big 12, the ACC, the (old) Southwest Conference.
Very "kool" list you have there. I found da same one and expanded on ONE; a most interesting "Brand".
What a FUN thing this "Grid Blogging" is! Thanks for turning me on. :-)
