FOUR FOR FRIDAY

Q: If you had the power and influence to rid the world of just one thing, what would that one thing be?

Q: Your best friend is hosting an event at her/his house in support of a candidate for public office whose candidacy you do not support. Despite how you feel about the candidate, your best friend asks you to attend. Do you go?

Q: If when you died you had an opportunity to wait for 5 people to greet into heaven, who would they be?

Q: If you were forced to enter a competition for the most useless talent, what useless talent would you put on display?

1. Since others' answering this question are likely to pick altruistic items, Iíll choose to rid the world of gossip. People generally choose to gossip, I believe, because they lack power and because theyíre trying to establish an identity. Be it in the workplace or in social circles and politics, information or misinformation placed as hearsay generally results in frustration and unnecessary misunderstandings. By eliminating gossip, weíd live in a world where straight talk and clarification would be valued above the sharing of slanderous information.

2. For my best friend, of course. Aside from the fact that Iíd be supporting my friend, I might actually learn something new or find deeper reasoning for my own beliefs.

3. Assuming that death occurred right now, Iíd wait for my Mom, Brother, Sister, and a couple of soul mates who Iíd want to reconnect with in the afterlife (assuming there is such a thing :-)

4. Thatís easy. I make these really unfashionable ëfartingí sounds with my hands. Give me a flat surface or an opposing hand (my own or otherwise), and Iíll make it purr like a kitten.

1.) Child abuse, plain and simple.

2.) No, I wouldnít attend, not even for my best friend. I am fairly closed-minded and defensive, and would have a very difficult time listening to Republican-bashing all night long.

3.) I have to agree with Mikal on this one, I would wait for my mom, dad, sister, brother, and my husband. And then I would sweet talk the gate-keeper into letting me wait for ( 5 more peopleómy nieces and nephews, so that they wouldnít have to be alone).

4.) I can make those horrible noises with my hands too, but my most useless talent would be the fine art of juggling.

1. Inequality (in general).

2. Sure, I'd go if my friend asks me. If anything, it'll be interesting to just observe.

3. My family.

4. I have no idea, maybe cracking my knuckles?

1) OK, I admit it, I'm an altruist, so I have to say poverty. It just bothers me to no end that in the United States of America people go to bed hungry (that is if they even have a bed to sleep in). And children are always the ones who suffer the most. It's a cycle that needs to end.

2) Yes, I would go to support my friend. Although I may not agree with the candidate, I'd get a better idea of why she supports this person. A very good friend of mine is a Bush supporter and we can't even discuss politics without it turning ugly.

3) I'd definitely wait for my family, which is more than 5 people, because in the end they are the ones who matter most to me. And of course my best friend.

4) I don't really know...

1. Violence
2. Yes, friends don't have to have the same beliefs or opinions to support each other.
3. My 2 children, my mom & dad, my sister (and brothers if I could have more than 5)
4. Tap dancing.

1. I'd get rid of illiteracy/lack of education.
2. Yes, I'd go. In fact, I have. And Republican friends (and supporters of the other Democrats besides Wes Clark) have come to my events. I do ask people even knowing they don't agree.
3. Why would I wait for anyone? I want to see the Promised Land!!
4. I can wave hello with my toes. It's eerie for most people to see, but I think it's cool.

1) Racisim

2)Yes sure! I'd ask a lot of good questions too!

3)My twin brother, my older brother, each of my parents, and my wife.

4)Sleeping.

1. I would have to choose two things, poverty and violence. However, with poverty out of the picture, I think violence would subside.
2. I would definitely go. Regardless of my political feelings, my friendship would be of utmost importance.
3. Are these people still alive when I died, or are they already dead? Please be more specific.
4. Keeping score of other people's useless talents.
