FOUR FOR FRIDAY
Q: Is there an actor or actress whom you dislike so much that you wouldn't even see a movie or TV show they were in? If so, who and why?
Q: Tomorrow is Valentine's Day... a time of the year when flowers, candy, and gifts are exchanged between loved ones and secret admirers, all in the name of St. Valentine. Do you have anything special planned for Valentine's Day... and/or... how do you feel about Valentine's Day... 'Overrated' or 'I love it / I'm really into it.'
Q: It's two-fifteen / three o'clock on a Tuesday afternoon, and you're falling asleep at your desk (or wherever it is that you work). What do you do to reinvigorate yourself so you'll make it thru to the end of the workday without dragging every step along the way?
Q: Would you rather play a game of basketball with Michael Jordan, have dinner with Oprah Winfrey, or listen to Jessie Jackson read aloud from Penthouse Forum?

1. Yes; Michael Beach, who plays Monte ìDocî Parker in the NBC show, Third Watch. No matter what role he plays, Beach always strikes me as overly dramatic and inappropriately concerned. His mere presence on screen is enough of a turnoff that Iíd rather turn off than watch.
2. Being single and unattached (hint hint, wink wink, nudge nudge), I have nothing special planned for this year (aside from calling my friend Kate, whose birthday is tomorrow), but I am a big fan of Valentineís Day. All of the sentiment that could have led to the things that I would have done this year--were I attached to that special someone--will undoubtedly continue to reside in my heart and soul. Having said that, I also want to say that just as I feel we shouldnít volunteer only on holidays (like Thanksgiving or Christmas) or when our companies encourage us to participate in a volunteer service days, I similarly feel that we shouldnít fall into the trap of holding off until the 14th of February to share our appreciation, love and affection for that special someone. In my world, every single day has the possibility and potential of being a valentineís day.
3. Among my favoritesÖ Head to the head to wash my face with soap and water, or close my office door and do completely wacky and uncoordinated jumping jacks... you know, the type that make you laugh at youself!
4. No contest... listen to Jessie read aloud from PH Forum!
1. Yes, Jerry Springer(puke!) He is acting when he is on his show... right? Either way, his image always leaves me sick. He exploits people and their whatever situations. It is ashame that he is on the tube(or on at all) when Da Boys get home from school, because accidentally he gets switched on and quickly turned off, as I gag. Pokemon rules for 30, as a reward some days.
2. Valentine's Day is fun for Kids. I am a kid at heart. I like to surprise people with cards and sign a BIG ? on them. There are too many lonely people out there not to think of someone who you might lift up with a simple thoughtful something any time of year. It is far more commercial than it should be. Love and friendship should be expressed all year long(just like the thoughts of giving at Christmas). Being single now and finally knowing(i think) what true love is and is not. I am a bit sad I don't have a peer male to hug... close by. BTW: I am hint-hinting and wink-winking too. NUDGE-Nudge!
3. I run around a bit, touch my toes, reach for the sky and pour another cup of coffee.
4. Oprah for sure... for the stories she surely could tell. (I am surprised at your answer Mikal)
I wish you all good luck today and love tomorrow.
1. Wish I could think of one, but I don't really watch enough TV to determine if I truly dislike someone as an actor/actress. As for movies, I'm usually highly judgemental about a movie before seeing it...personal flaw.
2. Since I'm single, I don't plan on celebrating it with a significant other, but do plan on showing my appreciation and love of others through small gestures of kindness. I agree with the intent of Valentine's Day, but not it's isolation to a commercialized holiday. However, as a consumer, I buy right into the marketing.
3. Caffeine, a good stretch, some calisthenics, and converse with co-workers to stimulate other areas of the brain in the hopes it releases some of those natural caffeines.
4. Basketball with Michael Jordon seems to be the lessor of the evils, despite the fact that I can't play basketball.
1) Meg Ryan. Although I liked her in the two movies she made with Tom Hanks, she generally annoys me with her over-acting and overly dramatic movements. I don't dislike her, just her mannerisms. Also, any movie/TV show with an animal as the sidekick or a regular character, bores me and I won't watch it. Oh, yeah, and Jenna Elfman...I never liked that sit-com she was in, she seems really annoying, too.
2) I think Valentine's Day is a nice sentiment, but it's gotten way out of control. Why can't we treat our loved ones like we do on V-Day, everyday? Only one day out of the year we should show someone how much we love/care about them? I don't think so. Bring me flowers everyday, once a month, whenever...but better to show me you care everyday in creative, kind and respectful ways. That said, I'm not against receiving a nice rose bouquet or some chocolate Godiva bon-bons! :o)
3) If I feel sleepy at work, I usually get up and walk around or go outside for some air. Or drink some water.
4) Dinner with Oprah! I really think she does a lot of good for people and would love to pick her brain and learn more about her personally. I think those people who mock her and say she's become too "spiritual" and "preachy" on her show are just afraid to face their issues. I'd rather listen to Oprah then someone who spews negativity like Jerry Springer or Jenny Jones.
Happy Friday!
1. I don't dislike any particular actor or actress because I hardly watch any TV or movies these days.
2. I have nothing against Valentine's Day even though I'm single, but some people take it way too seriously. That's why I'm hiding out in lab tomorrow so the angry people (long story) won't find me and tear me limb from limb.
3. Caffeine
4. Probably have dinner with Oprah. Even if she starts blabbing, I'm pretty good at tuning things out. I would not last five minutes in a basketball match with Michael Jordan. And my ears would definitely not last five minutes with Jessie Jackson.
1. David Caruso.. Ugh. Any tv show or movie with him is a definate no on my list. He just seems so arogant!!!
2. I too am single (hint hint, wink wink, nudge nudge)and to celebrate the Valentine's Day holiday, I organized a "singles" dinner and movie. About 10 of my friends joined me last night for dinner. Then we went to see "50 First Dates". It was a great night, eventhough I didn't have anyones hand to hold during the movie. I enjoy most holidays, but also find it odd that people go so far out of their way to express their feelings at holiday time. Who wouldn't like a hug everyday?? :-)
3. Get up and go take a walk. If it isn't too cold, I'll go outside. Otherwise, I'll roam the office for a bit.
4. I offer a different option... how about a game of catch with Peyton Manning and dinner with Matt Lauer.
1 - Julia Roberts. Does that need an explanation?
2 - Valentine's Day: I'm over it.
3 - Drink heavily.
4 - Jesse Jackson and Penthouse Forum: because I'd never stop laughing.
