FOUR FOR FRIDAY

Q: Have you ever crossed a picket line?

Q: What's one thing--outrageous or otherwise--that you plan or hope to do before you die?

Q: How often do you get a haircut, and, do you go back to the same place/person every time?

Q: If you had to make a guess today, do you think President Bush will be reelected come this November?

1. I have never had the occasion to cross a picket line before. I probably would.

2. I am at a loss for that "something" I would do before I die.

3. I get a haircut about every 5 weeks usually going back to the same person.

4. My guess would be yes.

1. I would never cross a picket line under any circumstance, my parents are both UAW. I would more than likely, be the one initiating the strike.

2. I would love to sky dive at least once.

3. Every five weeks. I go to a different place every time though, I canít seem to find anyone that I trust with my hair.

4. God-willing. :)

1. In a way I have crossed. I was a teenageer working at a supermarket that was Union run. I did not want to strike because I really needed the money for my upcoming prom (I always had to pay for those kinds of things myself). So I did not strike. Everyone understood my situation as they knew me and my family very well. Plus I was only 15...that is a lot to ask from someone that age who really doesn't understand those kinds of things.

2. I want to step foot on all 7 continents by the time I die. I also want to "find" myself by then.

3. I am too high maintenace! My hair dresser will probably be in my Will. I have gone to him loyally since I moved here...except once and I felt like I cheated on him. He's the best one I know of in Indiana. (Coming from LA..that is saying a LOT!)

4. He better as HELL win!!

Forgot to mention how often I go to get my hair done. Every 8 weeks for Cut and every 8 weeks for color.

Posted by: Christina at April 9, 2004 9:42 AM

1. I've never even seen one.

2. Yes, but it's not fit for print.

3. Every week or every other week. I shave my head w/ a #1 guard, no assistance necessary. I conduct the operation in the same spot every time, however.

4. Yes, Americans are a stupid flock of sheep following Rupert Murdoch.

First, to the poster who wants to go skydiving: GO! THIS WEEKEND! Look in the phone book and find a place and go! The rush is like NOTHING you have ever done.

1 - Back in the summer of 2000, when I was in New York, the workers at MoMA were on strike for better wages. Well, I just could not bring myself to cross the line, no matter how much I wanted see what was inside. Then, one of the strikers said that the admission policy on Thursdays allowed patrons to "pay what you want." The strikers urged people to only pay a penny, thereby demonstrating to management that many of their patrons sympathized with the strike. The union even provided the penny. So, on Thursday, I showed up with my own penny, and went in. Saw the original "Starry Night" and helped out labor. Beauty and a blow for justice, all in one visit.

2 - If you aren't terribly creative, and you have reached a certain age, and you don't have too many responsibilities, and you live in the U.S., you can pretty much go out and get what you want before you die. Several years ago, my answer would have been to write a book. Well, been there, done that. Next, I want to travel outside of the U.S.

3 - Once, maybe twice a year, with my current style (which should probably be on "What Not to Wear," but it is low-maintenance). Lowest bidder gets not only the business, but also a substantial tip.

4 - "Guess" suggests an informed thought, which gets in the way of "hope," which is more of a gut reaction and often thwarts informed thought. I can't guess because I very much hope that the man does not get re-elected.

1. I've only faced a picket line once. It was in the dead of winter at a grocery store in Colorado... and I walked almost two miles to get to it in wind and snow... and I was hungry... so I crossed over and gots me some foodies. Would I do it again? Probably not. I'm way more mobile nowadays, so I'd probably sympathize and go elsewhere. I would, however, stop to ask the picketers what their beef was about (no pun intended), and I'd ask if I could do anything, besides not shop at that store while they were on strike, to help them personally.

2. I'm siding with my good friend Matt on this one... it's not fit to print :-)

3. Every three to four weeks is the normal gestation period for my haircut, and for the last two years or so I've gone to the same place... the Riley Tower Barbershop, where Ray knows my name and remembers my stories (and vice versa)!

4. I do think that George W. Bush will be reelected. I could be wrong of course, but I have a sick sense about this.

1. I've seen picket lines before, but have never crossed them.

2. Get (anything) published.

3. Probably about once a year. And no, I don't go to the same place every time.

4. Uh, I don't know. I haven't been following politics for the past couple of weeks to even make a good guess.

1. Never faced a picket line... If faced with one, I'd need to get lots of facts on what's occuring before I'd decide to cross it.

2. Call me a hopless romantic, but before I die, I hope to be in a really, truely, honestly, deeply loving relationship with that special someone.

3. I typically go to the same guy. His name is Jonathon. He's great at styling my hair so it's up-to-date, trendy, but not "fake" looking. Of course, I missed my last appointment because I was out of town. I typically go every 6 weeks.

4. No, I don't think he'll be reelected.

1. Hell no, I would be bringing them tea (iced or hot) and cheering them on - yay for protest politics!

2. Hmmm, I would like to hike the Colorado Trail from Denver to Durango before I die...that or go streaking!

3. I get a haircut every month. I go to the same place and pray for the love of God that the drunk woman at Great Clips doesn't cut my hair. Sometimes I get her, sometimes I don't. Sometimes I get a good haircut, sometimes I don't. But hair always goes back.

4. I hate to admit it, but I think we are going to see another 4 years of King George of Arabia:(

1. No, I've never crossed a picket line. Never seen one around here.

2. Married with kids. Learn to play the drums. Hike the Grand Canyon. Learn Spanish & Italian fluently.

3. I get my hair cut about 3-4 times a year at the same salon with the same stylist for the last 8 years or so.

4. I pray to God that GWB does NOT get re-elected. And he won't, if everyone goes out and votes against him. There's no reason to think he's any better than Kerry.

1. Never had the opportunity to cross a picket line.
2. Not sure how outrageous this would be but I would like to travel around the world(Africa/Swiss Alps/Austria/Rome/The Coast of France/Belgium/Australia/the Orient...on a cruise ship, with a significant someone... someday. I am crossing my fingers on the significant someone part. Not sure if it would be so much fun by myself. Maybe my kids would join me?
3. My hair gets cut every 2-3 months. I have been shopping for a good stylist. The last one was talented, so I will go back.
4. Yes, I think President Bush will be re-elected. I think it will be a close race...again.

1) I've never crossed a picket line, though I have never been offered the chance. Ask me when it happens :)

2) I plan to try sky-surfing.. jumping out of a plane with a snowboard strapped to your feet... surfing the air until you need to deply your chute.. gotta try that!

3) I get a haircut maybe once a year, and rarely by the same business... I move around alot and therefore am offered a plethorical amount of hair-cutting services.

4) I think President Bush will not be nominated this November.. nor do I think I will vote him if he is nominated.

1) Yeah I did that once, that's how I got the metal plate in my head.. it's not all it's cracked up to be.. metal plates in the head that is. It's hard to get good cable, you know? Although I get NPR every morning in my left ear.

2) Tunnel my way into Fort Knox using a rocket powered unicycle while operating a drilling auger. Have not completed the plans yet, will keep you updated.

3) Afrer I invented the Inverted Mohawk, I figured out all hairstyles are repetitive so since my new job is riding the rails and living as a hobo I don't think often... what was the question?

4) President Bush? All these years I've been voting for the king! What the bloody 'ell has been going on in this country?
