Typically, neither, but of the two, the Democratic party moreso than the Republican party. (If anyoneís interested, hereís a link to the worldís smallest political test.)

3. List the last five presidents that you voted for.
Sorry, I donít kiss and tell!
4. Which party do you think is smarter about the economy?
While I think theyíre both pretty stupid when it comes to the economy, the Republicans win out on the no-depth chart for me.

Without question, the Democratic party, but thatís still not saying much.

7. Who, or what country, do you think is most responsible for 9/11?

8. Do you think we will find weapons of mass destruction in Iraq?

12. Do you think Hillary Clinton would make a good president?
Heck No.
13. Name a current Democrat who would make a great president.
Gerald Francis (Jerry) Meek, who currently serves as the First Vice Chair of the North Carolina Democratic Party. Jerry has been involved in the Democratic Party since the age of 13. He served as the National President of the Teen Democrats, was the youngest delegate to the 1988 Democratic National Convention, and has also served a precinct chair and as a congressional district officer. At the age of 25, Jerry was elected to serve as the Chairman of the Cumberland County (NC) Democratic Party, before being nominated for the N.C. House of Representatives. As an undergraduate, Jerry attended Duke University on a scholarship. He then attended the University of Notre Dame on a fellowship, graduating with a Master's degree in Government, before graduating from Duke Law School. Jerry currently practices law in Fayetteville, North Carolina, and will make a great President some day!
14. Name a current Republican who would make a great president.
John McCain.
15. Do you think that women should have the right to have an abortion?
Yes.

I am Jewish.
17. Have you read the Bible all the way through?
All the way thru... no; but I plan to.
18. What's your favorite book?
Into The Wild by John Krakauer, in which the author recants the true story of Christopher McCandless, who immediately upon graduating from college gave nearly $30,000 in savings to charity, abandoned his car in a desert--along with most of his possessions, and invented a new life for himself while on a journey that ultimately ended in the most strange of ways. Four months later, McCandless' body was found by an Alaskan hunter. How McCandless came to die, and an attempt at understanding his motives, is what Into the Wild is all about.
19. Who is your favorite band?
Iím not a huge fan of one particular band. In fact, I generally prefer solo recording artists to bands. But if I had to pick one band over another, off the top of my head, Iíd say Rush.

I donít know, but I can tell you this muchÖ it wonít be either John Kerry or George W. Bush.
21. What website did you see this on first?
A friend sent me a link to a site called The Go Fish. That's where I found these questions.

Hey, I'd probably vote for Jerry Meek just based on is educational resume! Plus, my son in North Carolina has spoken about him on a number of occassions. He's probably too smart to run for office.
Never heard of "Into the Wild," but it sounds like a good read to me.
Is this your "21 for Thursday"?
Oh, and Hillary would kick ass as president.
Sorry, Bluestocking, but I have to disagree with you there on the whole Hillary thing. Hillary Clinton is, in my humble opinion, just like the rest of the cronies in Washington, DC. She stomps around playing the "we need real leadership in Washington" card just as much as the person occupying the seat next to her, all the while failing to even acknowledge or take responsibility for the fact that she herself is in a position of leadership in Washington. Like almost every other politician in D.C., Hillary Clinton comes across as being more interested in making others wrong for their beliefs than in simply rolling up her sleeves and working to make things better. I also have a difficult time with the candidacy for her elected office. I do not feel that people should be allowed to, or should choose to, run for office from a location where they do not live. Sure, she lives there now, but thatís only because of the residency requirement for holding office; not because she has an authentic desire to call New York home.
Mikal, I agree with you totally on Hillary. Stomping around is a good description. I also thought the people of New York were smarter than to not see it was about Hillary and not representing the state of NY.
First, name a politician who doesn't point fingers to some degree.
Second, where was she supposed to run from? Her main residence for the previous 8 years was D.C. - no senators from there. Before that, Arkansas; but then people would say that she was riding her husband's coattails; and, let's face it, what power does Arkansas have? Ohio, where she was born? Please. New York was the perfect choice.
Third, name a woman would would make a good president.
Fourth, like any of the previous presidents or their opposition who has met the criteria implied on this blog for being president.
Hillary could probably get elected, and she'd be a helluva lot better than what's in office right now.
Not even going to get involved in the Hillary debate :-)
Into the Wild sounds very interesting. I'll have to pick up a copy.
As far as a republican president, I think John McCain would be great. Think we'll ever see him run for president???
Thanks for the ringing endorsement of my brother, Jerry. I'll be sure to pass it along. Naturally, I hope he becomes president some day as well.
In the meantime before he runs, I would answer Colin Powell for both questions 13 and 14. The world needs another Ike. Being black may help soothe race relations as a bonus.
Bluestocking, you state that Hillary would make a great president but haven't adequately made the case for why you think this way.
Your first argument is roughly, "who cares what she is doing, everybody else is doing it." This doesn't sound like leadership quality to me. The last thing we need is a sheep in the White House.
Secondly, electing carpetbaggers to high office negatively reflects upon its voters. She rightfully should have ran in Arkansas. Essentially, it reduced the race down to a popularity contest (sans the "Miss America" style sash). As far as coattails are concerned, she has ridden Bill's for the last 30 years, not having been involved in much individually since Watergate.
Thirdly, if I was a woman, I would be insulted. Your statement implies that the stark resume of a junior senator trumps the thousands of women who are highly motivated and successful in their own right for the top spot.
Your fourth statement essentially implies that NO ONE qualifies for the presidency, therefore WHY NOT vote for Hillary. Still hasn't backed up your claims.
So tell us, in your opinion, why would Hillary "kick ass as president?" Reasons such as "Bush sucks" or "I thought she was really cool on Letterman" don't cut it.
Obviously my actual questions were mistaken for rhetorical questions or sarcasm. In no way did I imply no other woman could hold the Oval Office. Please, tell me another woman who could sucessfully win the presidency, because most women in the political limelight are subjected to the worst sort of sexist criticism. I mean, my god, Hillary is slammed for being unqualified and a "carpetbagger" and riding on her husband's coattails and therefore has no right to be in office or to run for the presidency. Yet, as first lady she was slammed for being too involved in politics and business. Meanwhile, how did our president become president? Not by brains and not by experience - unless fucking up is what you want from a leader, and he seems to be stellar at that.
Nor did I intend to imply that politicians are sheep. Politicians point fingers because that is part of the nature of the business - and the business is getting elected by making yourself look better than the other guy.
And, hell, why not vote for Hillary? Isn't the election mostly about choosing the lesser of two evils because both guys are treading toward such a middle ground that they want their differences blurred in order to gain more votes? This November we are faced with Bush and Kerry. Keep Bush in office and our rights will erode. Kerry doesn't seem to please the professed liberals on this blog, and history has shown - ever since the Republicans first ran in 1856 - that third parties don't win the presidency. The situation is not ideal, but neither is politics. Pragmatism is the rule in elections and in law making; and people vote for what affects them.
I wasn't trying to persuade anyone, I was just expressing an opinion and asking for alternatives: a liberal female who could get elected as a president.
I should have gone with expressing my opinion about "favorite book." I give more of a damn about that.
I'd definitely vote for Jerry Meek for President one day. He's brillant and a fine young man .I've know him all his life. He's my son.
