FOUR FOR FRIDAY
Q: What sorts of things did you enjoy reading as a child?
Q: Are you now, or did you ever, mourn or grieve over the death of former U.S. President Ronald Regan?
Q: Have you ever had a role in a theatrical performance? If so, what did you play? If not, is there a role that youíd like to play?
Q: If and when your hair turns gray, will you let the gray in or will you use an over-the-counter product to turn it away?

1. I loved reading a weekly newspaper called GRIT. It contained only good news, and had headlines like, "How To Make a Leaning Tower of Pizza." It also had double the number of frames for the Sunday comics then did the regular Sunday newspaper, and since I was a newspaper boy for the company, I got to read them a whole day earlier than everyone else (because they were delivered to my house a few days before they had to be delivered). I also liked a magazine called Ranger Rick, published by the National Wildlife Federation. It had everything kids loved back then... stories and pictures about amazing animals, all sorts of fun facts, crafts, puzzles and more.
2. No, I never mourned or grieved over Regan's death. I've often stopped to think about his life and the status of his health, but even though I voted for him, I never felt a close enough of a connection with him to truly mourn his passing.
3. I did play a few roles in theatrical performances, when I was a kid, but for the life of me I can't recall any of them now. I also worked as a stage-hand, once on props for A Streetcar Named Desire. I always enjoyed the teamwork associated with that sort of stuff. It made me feel like I was a part of something much bigger than just myself, and that my contributions were a part of a successful plot to solve a puzzle.
4. I'm not sure. I've started to notice a few gray hairs creeping in already, but nothing along the lines of what you'd need the old Grecian Formula for. I think at first I'd be curious to see what I'd look like all gray, and then maybe I'd do something about it. Not sure.
Q1: I loved to read Ranger Rick and Highlights magazines, I also spent lots of time reading books like Charlottes Web, Little Women, and Huckleberry Fin (I still have my original copies).
Q2. I am very sad for his family, his children, and grandchildren. But other than that, I canít really say that his death has affected me at all. I think they should have buried him days ago and let the family have time to grieve and deal, w/o having to see his casket on every television station 24 hours a day.
Q3. I played Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz in second grade, I was terrible. I also painted props throughout all four years of high school for the Drama dept. I liked doing it because I did not have to socialize, I could just sit in the back and paint the back drops, trees, etc., do whatever they needed, and not have to deal with the "drama." :)
Q4. I will most definitely color my gray hair, I have only found one to date, so hopefully I have some time left before I have to worry about it. No bottle color though, it is really, really, rough on your hair. You should have it done at a salon if/when you decide to go for it.
1. I liked reading fairy tales and science books. I spent a lot of time purusing the 500s section of the library.
2. Not really. Perhaps this reveals my lack of age, but he was president before I had any awareness that there were such things like politics. Once he disappeared from the public eye due to his illness, he was pretty much consigned to the history books.
3. The only role I ever played in a school play was in the pit orchestra. Which suits me just fine. Leave the acting to the actors and the music to the musicians.
4. I'd probably leave the gray in. If people think you're older, they'd probably give you more deference.
1. As I child and a book worm, my summer's always started out with extreme excitement. The weekend after school ended my mom would take me to the book store to buy tons of books (and I mean tons -approx 40) so that I could read during the summer. I read about a book a day. My favorites were Highlights, Judy Bloom, Ray Bradbury, Nancy Drew, Hardy Boys, Sweet Valley High, and Shakespear. I also enjoyed Shel Silverstein poems and I had a subscription to BOP magazine which I would plaster Duran Duran pictures on my walls! I'm still a book worm...now it's Anne Rice and Harry Potter series.
2. I must say a part of me greived for him. Being that I am from Los Angeles, I had the honor of shaking both his hand and George Bush Sr. when I was a Girl Scout. This was during the Reagan/Bush campaign. I also gave him jelly beans which were his favorite.
3. I did some acting when I was younger and then after high school. I was on Power Rangers, VR Troopers, and Sweet Valley High for small appearances. I often entered school talent shows - never won...I guess that's why I'm not a big Hollywood Actress!
4. HELL NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I already saw a few gray hairs and almost fainted. Thank goodness I have a great colorist! I will color my hair till my grave comes a knocking! I will admit some men actually look sexier with gray hair and there are a few women who do...but only a few. However, I think it ages a woman drastically.
1. I used to read all Judy Blume's books. Adventure/time travel (still read those). Danielle Steele (but that was more my teenage years). Um...a lot of Dell books. When I was a kid I read a lot of those Little Golden Books. I love to read.
2. No, I'm not in mourning, but it is sad when anyone famous dies. You somehow feel like you knew them. Blessing to his family.
3. The only times I was in a play was in elementary school. I was an Oompa-Loompa in "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" in 2nd grade and a "Bridesmaid" in "Ruddigore" in 4th grade. I would like to get involved in theater in some capacity.
4. Not sure, but when I see a stray gray hair now, I pluck it out immediately! So, I may dye it.
1. Ugh.. as a kid, I didn't really enjoy reading that much. I was to into sports and being with my friends.
2. I was sad when I heard he passed away. Not sure if being sad for a bit puts me in the mourning category.
3. I was in plays and such as a child, but nothing memorable.
4. At first, I'll try to hide it by getting highlights, blending it in. Sure, guys look "Distinguished" with gray hair. But I certainly don't want to look like an old maid!
1)I loved Dr. Seuss. Where the sidewalk Ends. Charlotte's Web. Charli and the Chocolate Factory. And all the many books with records that accompanied them...my dad gave me a whole library full almost. I also loved the Little House series, but didn't read all of them. The boxcar children is another really good children's serires.
2) I did for a bit when it was announced, but I think I am done now.
3)I have only ever been in the chorus of the musicals we had in highschool. I would like to be in any theatrical performance that was opposite Brad Pitt. Is that a valid want?
4)Considering I already color my hair and not for Gray coverage..I bet I will color it once I start going Gray too. I would think it would be for upkeep though not because all the sudden I am Gray. I always joke that I will never know when I will be Gray because I don't go very long without coloring my hair.
1) Growing up, I always enjoyed reading The Hardy Boy's....
2) I think "mourn" is a strong word for me...It has been a little sad for me watching all the events on TV because I look at the Regan family and see their sadness. They have lost a husband and a father.
3) My one shot at fame came when I was an extra in a movie in college (1984). I was "booted" from the scene because I was too tall for the camera shot. The movie was "Playing for Keeps" and it starred Marisa Tomei(1st movie), Jimmy Baio(bro of Scott), Matthew Penn(you know who's bro), Harold Gould and was directed by Harvey and Bob Weinstein. That movie ruined a lot careers but also started a few.
4) My hair first "turned" gray and then it "turned" loose...It's all good though !!!!
When I was little I never read any books. It wasnít until college that my roommate turned me onto SiFi that I really started to read. Unfortunately, with the advent of the internet my read has dropped off. However it was replaced by reading blogs such as yours, I find it interesting to learn what others are thinking.
No. the only president that I mourned was Kennedyís.
Nope, I never have done any theatrical work. If I did I think I would like to do a period play set in the Victorian times.
Itís all gray now. Once I retire I would like to start to color my hair, just move away and start a new chapter in my life.
1 - Little House on the Prairie, The Secret Garden, the Little Princess, all again and again and again...and anything of that sort for breaks in between.
2 - Grieve for Reagan? Hahahahahahahahaha! Seriously, I mourn the death of Ray Charles.
3 - Third angel, third little pig, second violinist, second flutist, and various scenes in class such as Agnes (of God), the youngest sister in Crimes of the Heart, Kate the Shrew, Emily Dickinson. I always wanted to play Scarlett O'Hara, I'd love to do Kate the Shrew or Hamlet, and then there is the requisite killer or victim on Law and Order, although a cop or opposing counsel would be cool, too.
4 - Must plead the fifth on this one.
