FOUR FOR FRIDAY
Q: Name an item of food that you once hated but now like?
Q: How do you feel about actor Sylvester Stallone, L.A. Dodgers owner Frank McCourt, actress/comic Ellen DeGeneres, and actor Tom Cruise all being given the honor of carrying/running with the Athens 2004 Olympic Torch?
Q: Have you ever been booked on a flight that was canceled? If so, what were the circumstances, and how did the flight's cancellation impact your plans? If this has never happened to you, how do you think you'd react if it did?
Q: What was your worst summer or part-time job?

1. Coffee
2. I could care less.
3. Yes, I hopped on another plane and was given a free round trip ticket any where in the US. It was Christmas Time, during college. I slept in the terminal Christmas Eve and watched many a Santa Claus walk/get on a plane. :-)
4. De-tassling Corn!
1 - Broccoli
2 - This I'm supposed to care about?
3 - No. If it happened, my reaction would depend upon the amount of sleep that I have had, my blood sugar level, my caffeinne level, and most of all the way the airline responded.
4 - Nothing completely hideous, such as cleaning out barns or latrines or anything, but I did despise retail in high school, secretarial work after high school and after undergrad, and counting the money at Astroworld one summer in grad school. Being a teaching assistant also kinda sucked. Oh, and I just remembered (because it was so horrid I blocked it out): substitute teaching. But, again, it wasn't cleaning latrines.
1. Broccoli without anything on it
2. Money speaks. It's not right though. I think it needs to be people who have a direct link to athleticism and have an inspiring story...such as Lance Armstrong.
3. I have had a flight cancelled. Spend the night at Midway...not the ideal airport to be stuck at.
4. Working in a warehouse packing drugs for shipment. Will never work in a warehouse again.
1. Tomatoes
2. No opinion really.
3. Yep. It was an ATA flight out of Chicago-Midway on my way back from New York to Indy. Nothing to eat and nothing to pass the time. It wasn't too bad, though. Got booked on the next available flight. I ended up being stuck there an extra 4 hours or so.
4. Worst summer job-- "market research" (via telephone) for Norplant, calling up total strangers and asking them about their birth control practices.
1. Mushrooms
2. I don't know, part of me does not care, part of me feels revulsion at how we get so starstruck - I can think of scads of other people more deserving/representative of the US...
3. Yes, trip from hell. Storms on east coast, was traveling USAir and was in their Pittsburgh hub connecting. All flights were delayed then cancelled finally at around midnight, and there was an angry mob of people waiting to get booked on new flights the next day and hotels close to the airport were booked solid because of all the cancellations. I ended up "sleeping" in the airport (if that's possible), my wallet was also stolen on this trip. They rerouted me home the next day to Indy through Cincinnati on Delta, and I could not get my car out of the parking place because I had no wallet/cash/credit cards. This was before 9/11 so a sympathetic gate agent let me on the plane without ID. All in all trip from hell due to flight cancellation....
4. Phone marketing doing radio surveys. I am always nice to telemarketers now.
1) Spinach. Although I prefer it fresh...and I still won't eat that crap from the can. Popeye or no Popeye.
2) Posers.
3) As a kid I used to fly back and forth from IN to OK. My dad lived in OKC. One time on a return trip to IN we were delayed for hours. Something about the cabin pressure not working. We figured they were going to cancel the flight, but then they decided it was all fixed and we could leave. We got on the plane and continued to wait seemed like forever...finally they took off. We hadn't been in the air more than 15 minutes and the little bags dropped from the ceiling. I was a minor about 10, I think, and so this guy put mine on for me...I remember thinking gee can you leave the ears on my head please. He was all freaking out and crammed the bag on my head. We turned around went back to the Will Rogers World Airport in OKC. I remember being nervous because I thought my dad would've left me. But him and my stepmom stayed to make sure that exact thing didn't happen (such good parents). We went home to a pool party of one of their friends. Then the next day went back to the airport and it was much less drama. We took off on time and made it to chi-town on time. Out of all the many numerous flights I have been on that was the only bad experience where I had to reschedule a flight. Good odds I suppose.
4) That is a good question. I have had so many jobs in my day. Working at UPS, Babysitting, Filing paperwork at the IBC. I would have to say the worst job I ever had was telemarketing. In college I did it for about 2 weeks..if that long. I was selling Kirby vacuum cleaners. It was not very succesful. I was tired of getting hung up on after 2 weeks and just quit showing up. I also was a server at Jillians for about a week after college. It wasn't such a bad place to work I am just not waitress material.
1. Broccoli.
2. Honestly.. who cares! Of course, given the opportunity, I would love to have this honor. They just happen to have enough money/clout to do this.
3. I'm happy to say, that all air travel has been smooth. (knock on wood)
4. For 3 whole days, I worked at a fast food establishment. I cried each night when I got home.
