FOUR FOR FRIDAY

Q1: If you were a lawyer, would you agree to represent deposed Iraqi president, Saddam Hussein? What if you were a doctor or psychologist... would you agree to treat him?

Q2: Have you ever taken an IQ Test? If so, what did you think of your score? If you've never taken one, are you curious to know what your IQ score is?

Q3: Do you truly enjoy life or do you mostly endure what gets tossed your way in the hopes that it'll soon get better?

Q4: When you get home from work, do you keep your work clothes on or do you immediately change into something else?

I figure after making such a fuss, I'd better put belicove at the top of my to-do list this morning. :)

Q1: I would dutifully represent Saddam. I would make sure the trial was conducted properly, all rules followed and judicial decorum maintained. I would make a truthful final argument, sensitive to all who suffered by his hand. Finally, I would then watch with the world his public beheading, relieved that this monster roams the earth no more. And yes, if I were a doctor I would save his life and certainly if I were a psychologist I would love to spend an appropriate amount of time exploring this thoughts of this purely evil man.

Q2: Yes, I was satisfied with the result.

Q3: I enjoy life and try to overcome what gets tossed in my way. But endurance is important too.

Q4: Immediately change. I have chores to do. And sometimes a motorcycle to ride. :)

1. Yes, if either were my chosen profession, I certainly would.

2. I think it would be lots of fun to take an IQ test. (Makes me think of the Seinfeld episode where Elaine takes the IQ test for George) :-)

3. I truly enjoy life most of the time. Sure, we all have our days when we feel down. If there's is something in life I want, I set my goal and map out my strategy.

4. Typically after work, I'll change into a pair of shorts and a t-shirt. Keep in mind that my supergirl outfit is always ready should I be called to action.

1. This is a hard question for me. As a lawyer, I don't think I can. In that situation, I have a choice to render my services. As a doctor...it would also be difficult, however, a doctor takes an oath in which they are dutifully bound to save lives...all lives in a non discriminant fashion. So, I would have to treat him as a patient. However, I would love to be his psychologist...just to get into his head...maybe even to mess with it a little...
2. Yes, I have taken an IQ test. I tested with a high IQ, but there ARE times I wonder....I have a learning disability and they say most people with learning handicaps are highly intelligent.
3. I hate this question. And without playing the "poor me" song and dance...I think I mostly endure what gets tossed my way. I am one of those people who are trying to find the meaning of life...my life and what true happiness is. I never really had goals growing up or as a young adult..everything I wanted was given to me. So now, as an adult I feel lost. I know it isn't my emotions because I am content, but persoanlity wise...I am clueless as to my purpose. So, I go with the flow; so to say.
4. Unless I have to go somewhere after work, the monkey suit is off and yoga pants and a tank top are on!

Posted by: Christina at August 6, 2004 9:22 AM

A1: Absolutely, if it were my profession.
A2: Nope! Wouldn't want to either...as I'd either be really surprised or really disappointed.
A3: Nothing better than life itself!
A4: Usually change into something else, but is dependent upon which work I'm doing

I really do think this is the most "intelligent" meme I've come across in a long time! Thanks! And my responses are up here

Posted by: Vic... at August 6, 2004 10:56 AM

Q1: a) No, I donít think he deserves representation, he is a monster and should be punished severely. b) I would have no choice but to treat him. If I were a doctor I would have taken that stupid hippocratic oath and would have to stand on that principle. c) The man obviously has big time mental issues, and is in desperate need of a psychiatrist (or two or three), so I would gleefully shrink his head and prescribe large doses of MAOIs.

Q2: I have taken an IQ test. It was a while back, but I scored surprisingly well considering that I am unable to complete a sentence, or remember where I park my car. I believe more people should worry about how they would score on a personality test than how many IQ points they have. I know a lot of really intelligent jerks.

Q3: Honestly, itís been a rough year, so I would have to say that I deal with what is tossed in my path and push through the best that I can. But, there have been days; beautiful, exciting, magical days in the mix, that I would not trade for all the tea in China. And it is days like this, that make life worth living.

Q4: I immediately change into my comfy clothes. I pretty much start changing in my ride before I get home. :)

Posted by: at August 6, 2004 11:16 AM

1. If I was a lawyer I don't think I would represent Saddam. I wouldn't want to be involved with someone like him and have his fate on my conscience. Same if I was a doctor or psychologist; although his mental state might be an interesting subject to study.

2. I once took an IQ test online, and at the end of it, the only way to get my score was to pay for it. So, I never knew what I scored. I think I'm pretty smart...I would take it again.

3. At the moment, there are certain aspects of my life that I'm really enjoying. But, I'm also feeling a bit lost when it comes to a fulfilling career. I try and enjoy each day, and I'm grateful for what I have, but I could be happier.

4. I immediately change into more comfortable clothes. It's more relaxing and I can decompress from the day.

Posted by: Missy at August 6, 2004 11:17 AM

A1:I think I would have to say no.

A2: No I haven't ever taken one. I am kinda curious, but not enough to take an IQ test.

A3: It depends I suppose. Mostly, I do enjoy life. Lately, I have felt like I have been in a rut and just taking what comes my way. I have been making a conscious effort to get more out of life and enjoy it. I have been working on buying a house and getting married. I feel this is a time for change and growth. 30 is a good age to grow up right? Only 7 more months and I will be 30 (ugh).

A4: I immediately change out of my work clothes once I am home. (Right Spencer girls?) Especially, now that we have business casual I rush to the bedroom to change into some comfy pants or shorts and a good ol' T shirt.

1. Lawyer-- no, but mostly because I'm a coward and would fear for my life. Doctor or psychologist-- yes. I think if you have healing skills, you have a responsibility to use them to help anyone in need who crosses your path.

2. I'm sure I have taken IQ tests, but I don't remember them. As a teen, I was part of a high profile gifted and talented program. I don't know what my IQ is, and I don't care to know. I'm satisfied that I'm a moderately intelligent person. I don't need a number to validate that.

3. Pretty much love it, even when I hate it.

4. Change almost immediately into tank top and shorts in summer and sweatshirt and loose flannel pj bottoms in winter.

Q1: Doctor, yes. Don't like lawyers or shrinks.

Q2: 159. High, but nowhere near the highest.

Q3: I unequivocally enjoy it. Life is bliss, compared to the alternative.

Q4: Work from home. :D

1. Not being a lawyer, I donít know, but I would like to think that I would to the best of my abilities. Like wise not being a psychologist itís hard to tell, but unlike a lawyer they have an oath to up hold and I would like to think that a doctor would treat any patient. I would hope that they would not refuse to treat anyone because of race, religion, sexual orientation or gender; unlike the law they are trying to pass in Michigan where doctors would be able to refuse to treat someone on religious grounds.
2. Yes, just last Thursday actually, at a psychologist office to be evaluated so that I can begin hormones. I took the WASI and MMPI tests and I think I did quite well. I had a hard time with memorizing numbers both forwards and backward, but the other tests I think I did ok. Next stop is to see a psychiatrist, then an endocrinologist and then I go before the board for approval.
3. I look forward to what ever life has to throw at me, after all life would be so dull otherwise. I donít want to just endure life, I want to live it.
4. As soon as I get home I get into clothes that I am more comfortable wearing.

Posted by: Diana at August 6, 2004 4:07 PM

1. Lawyer: no. Doctor: yes.

2. No. I don't believe in IQ tests. The only thing they really measure is your IQ test taking skills.

3. Although there are definitely some bad parts, I think I enjoy life for the most part. At least I get to do what I love and not have to worry about the basics.

4. Sometimes. Because I usually wear comfortable clothes to work.

First question .... not easy! My answers are up now :)

Posted by: Cassie at August 6, 2004 8:32 PM

1. I don't have the temperment or stomach for either occupation, but I would probably say no to the defend and yes to the medical.
2. I took I.Q. tests as a kid and have taught at a "gifted" school. I don't think "gift" is the right term for it. There are all kinds of gifts and sometimes a whole lot of intelligence is not one. Anyway, I digress, the outcome was over-rated. It's what you do with what you have.
3. I have gone through moments of each and every stage in between. There are moments of extreme stress where you just try and keep your head above water. Most times I enjoy.
4. I work in very comfortable clothes, so the only thing I might do is take off my shoes.

Mine are up on my site :-) This was fun...thanks :-)

Posted by: Tabitha at August 7, 2004 10:44 PM

1 - To be a lawyer you have to be a bit amoral--I mean, pragmatic. Plus, what a helluva great career move that would be. As for doctor, again, you have the devotion to profession, not morals. Again, what a career move. The question about the psychologist assumes a pathology that might not be there and disregards a whole host of contextual information. Still, what an interesting subject! So, yes, on all counts.

2 - I've taken about 3 or 4 IQ tests in my life, only learning the results of the first. I'd be curious about the relationship of the other 2 to the first; but, overall, knowing the number has not really done much for me either good or bad in my life except make me more frustrated at my own intellectual limitations....kind of like knowing my weight. Besides, the tests measure only one type of intelligence, and there are about five, have a history of bias, and predict absolutely nothing about sucess ao quality of life.

3 - Life is a bitch, and then you die after a long, debilitating illness without insurance. Now, I'm going to go eat worms.

4 - 5 p.m. is jammie-time. (Can't touch this!)

Where's Mikal?

Posted by: at August 10, 2004 9:38 PM

1. Yes, I would represent Saddam Hussein in legal proceedings. Not only do I believe that every human being deserves representation, but what better position to be in when trying to make sense out of all of this WMD mess then in the chair next to the man himself. Same goes for treating him as a doctor or as a psychologist... I'd do it in a heartbeat (especially the psychologist part... that'd be too much fun if you ask me).

2. If I have taken an "official" IQ test, I'm not aware of it (which probably doesn't bode well for my IQ if I did indeed take an official one). Earlier this year, I played along with a TV/Internet-administered IQ test on FOX called TestTheNation2, which rated your IQ level as you sat there for 2 hours listening to multiple questions and answers calmly asked by the show's host. All of this as groups of blonds, garbage men, actors, etc. competed against each other to see which stereotyped group had the highest IQ. While I scored a lot higher than I thought I would, I'm not letting the score get to my head.

3. I truly enjoy life but not everything that gets tossed my way.

4. I almost always immediately change into something else.
