FOUR FOR FRIDAY

Q1: If you were granted the power to create and then use a "Panic"/"Stop" button, what are three things youíd use it for?

Q2: If you could afford it, would you take a ride into space before the end of 2005?

Q3: If you were given the talent to be considered "world-class" at something which you currently know little to nothing about, what would it be?

Q4: Has anyone ever called you by the wrong name, like a clueless co-worker or a family member? If so, have you corrected them or just let it go? What was your reaction and how did it make you feel?

To save lives, to get out of boring meetings at work and to get away from boors at parties. The first is obvious. The second, wouldnít it be great to just press a button and the meeting would be over. Likewise at parties when you are trapped by a person who just wonít shut up, just press the button and walk away.

YES

I think I would like to be world class chess or backgammon player. I always wanted to be able to play chess with at less some skill level and at backgammon I win more games than I loose now, but will like to be a better player.

It depends upon the circumstances, if it someone who I havenít seen in awhile and I wonít see them again in a long time, why bother to embarrass them. But, if itís business then yes, I correct them.
But what bothers me more is when they use the wrong pronoun, be transgendered. I find that 99% of the people use the correct pronoun; itís that 1% who go out of their way to use the wrong pronoun on purpose. I donít try to correct them because itís not worth getting into an argument with them, theyíre bigots and will never change.

1. To prevent all forms of intentional violence/acts of hatred, to prevent accidents (auto, plane, general), and to prevent people from saying and being mean to one another in simple common every-day life.

2. I don't think so.. I don't even like to ride rollercoasters ;-)

3. Public Speaking. I hate to give presentations, read out-loud, and debate. Around my close friends, I can relax and speak normal, but around new people or in a new situation, I get flustered, speak very fast, and mess up the words. My mind runs faster than I can speak!!! I wish I was a confident speaker!!!

4. Yes, this happened just yesterday. My boss got my last name wrong. Not just the pronunciation, but he used an entirely different last name to introduce me to a new client. I glanced at my co-worker and we just chuckled. I've only been in this job since July, but it still made me feel unappreciated.

1. If I could create and then use a Panic/Stop button, I'd use it everytime someone did something good for another human being. So, it really wouldn't be something to panic over, but to show the world the good things that are taking place, as opposed to the bad.

2. No, I would not take a ride into space. I like to stay on the ground.

3. Painter (a la Monet/Picasso, etc). A mathematician--(I'm not completely ignornant about math, but it was never my favorite subject). A highly sought-after public speaker.

4. People who just meet me, say a new co-worker, never get my name right...I'm always referred to as Michelle--but, that's NOT MY NAME. Eventually they get it right. In the past I wouldn't have corrected them if it only happened once, but now I do. I expect respect for who I am, and not calling me by my name is disrespectful. I don't do it to other people. As for family, my grandfather used to call me Mitzy. I know he knew my name, but to him, I was "Mitzy".

1. It'll be nice to have a stop button for work. Otherwise, I'm rather laid back.

2. Uh, no. I do not expect them to work out all the bugs of spaceflight before 2005 so I would not risk my neck then. Ask me again in 2020.

3. Singing, maybe. Or Chinese checkers.

4. I feel somewhat annoyed when I'm called the wrong name. And I always correct the person--I don't care how embarassed they'll feel, but it's worse to be wrong. I'd definitely want to be corrected if I got someone's name wrong.

A1: "Stop" button to STOP war, starvation, and environmental destruction. "Panic" button for my own personal moments of anxiety.

A2: YES...I love any and all adventures, especially one's involving calculated and managed risk.

A3: Mathematics, physics, or the on-going's inside the CIA. Other than that...I'd like to remain humbly "ignorant".

A4: Sometimes they get it wrong, but I usually don't correct folks, since I go by either version.

Q1: I'd hit the panic/stop button to halt fear-based decision-making, global poverty, and the over-the-top salaries of professional athletes and corporate executives.

Q2: Yes, without hesitation, I'd travel into space if I could afford it. I'd love to see the earth from space and experience weightlessness.

Q3: I'd want to be a world-class critical thinker and written and verbal communicator.

Q4: While I'm hardly ever called by the wrong name, I do have a block when it comes to remembering and calling certain people by their proper name. There was this great guy at my old office who I consistently called Greg (his name is Doug) and there's a nice woman at my new one who I call Roxanne (her name is Natalie). Even though I feel like a complete moron each time I do it, I can't seem to help myself. It's not like I'm trying to be disrespectful or anything. It's just one of those things that's out of my control for some unexplainable reason.

Q1: If you were granted the power to create and then use a ìPanic"/"Stopî button, what are three things youíd use it for?
To get more time in the day
Q2: If you could afford it, would you take a ride into space before the end of 2005?
No. The technology does not a track record of safety to the extent that I would want to do something like that just now.
Q3: If you were given the talent to be considered ìworld-classî at something which you currently know little to nothing about, what would it be?
Ballet. I have always admired the technical skill and grace that the dance requires and have longed to be able to move in that manner.
Q4: Has anyone ever called you by the wrong name, like a clueless co-worker or a family member? If so, have you corrected them or just let it go? What was your reaction and how did it make you feel?
Yes. I corrected them or ignored them until they corrected themselves. No reaction. I forget stuff all the time. Iím sure I was slightly embarassed or confused

Q1.a.Stop Bush. b.Panic button for environmental damage by we humans. c. Stop the clock for a year or two so I could catch up!

Q2.No, if I had that kind of money, I would have someone fix the leaking top on my convertible! But, if we get vehicles that travel the speed of light, I am there man.

Q3.Little to nothing are the key words there. I would be the most amazingly organized person in the world with less clutter than anyone. I obviously don't know much about that and with that, I think I could do anything.

Q4. It never offends me when anyone calls me by the wrong name or forgets mine, ever. I always say my name when I see someone who I have not seen for any fair length of time. Regretably (sp), I forget names quite a bit; though, there have been times that I remembered lots of names correctly. I think it has to do with my answer to number Q3.
p.s. I don't understand Diana's pronoun thing. Could you give an example?
