FOUR FOR FRIDAY

Q1: What's the most annoying part of your job?

Q2: We've all done it... misplaced the remote control or lost a wallet or purse. What situation stands out in your mind as being one of the most difficult as a result of you having lost or misplaced something?

Q3: Whatís the best investment of time, money, resources, or emotions youíve ever made?

Q4: How much do your religious beliefs influence the way you vote in local and national elections?

Hi, this is my first time finding your blog and seeing your questions. Nice ones!

1) The most annoying part of my job is motivating myself every day. Since I'm self-employed, there's no one hanging over my shoulder to make sure I work but my own precious self.

2) I have misplaced a ton of things, but nothing that would seriously impair me... oh wait. I lost the little phone book with all my family's phone numbers in it. That was fun...

3) College overall was the best investment of everything I ever made. It expanded my life in ways that continue to inform my path every day.

4) They don't in an obvious way. I won't listen to any political or faith based organization that tries to tell me how to vote. Some of my personal values about how the world works did come from my faith, and on this level I would say it influences my vote.

Thanks for the wonderful questions.

1. Experiments not working because I did something stupid.

2. Probably my keys.

3. I haven't seen any results from any of the investments I've made so I guess it's sort of moot trying to find the best one. (Although if grad school pans out, that'll be great.)

4. I'm agnostic. I don't have any religious beliefs to influence anything.

1. My Boss. He doesn't give a damn about anything...usually out playing golf, spending time at home, or with his "buddies"; yet he tells us he is in "meetings" all day. It is frustrating because we have worked so hard to build our business and now we are just watching it crumble. Time to find a new job....
2. My husband would agree, I would misplace my head if it weren't attached. I would say the most difficult time was locking myself out of the house in the freezing cold. I had to go to a neighbors house whom I did not know very well and call my husband (boyfriend at the time) and drag him out of a conference which he was teaching at to drive home and let me in. Boy was he pissed.
3. I cannot say I have ever made any good monetary investments. However, as cheesy as it sounds, my best investment was just "hanging in there" on my relationship and being persistant. The time invested was well worth it. I now have a wonderful husband who has opened a whole new world to me..and he is my best friend in life.
4. I think some of my ethics and moral standards do play a slight role in my voting process, but not religion. Over all some of my beliefs fall right inbetween both parties. With that being said, I am more conservative in my voting process and would sway towards traditional values.

1. Carpool duty in pouring down rain or freezing cold.
2. Losing my glasses once or twice. I can function, but not on a small scale. No reading or computer work.
3. It would always be raising children. Putting their needs first, setting the example that they need to have for their children. And now, enjoying those grandchildren.
4. My beliefs are a part of who I am, so, of course, they would influence me. You still have to prioritize what is most important and who best matches those choices. It is also important to look outside of yourself and try and determine who best will consider the needs of the country. After all, it is not about you.

1. The most annoying part of my job is: a) having nothing much to do on a regular basis; b) sitting here everyday feeling my brain drain from lack of use; c) having to work until 5:30 when it's bad enough that I have nothing to do. So pretty much, the whole job is annoying.

2. I donít tend to lose things very often. Iím very organized and know where my stuff is. When I was 16 I lost this silver box-chain necklace that I always wore and never took off. Then one day it was gone. I was so upset. But my sister said not to worry about it, that it was just a sign of change. Iíd never thought of it like that, so then I didnít feel so bad. Usually itís when other people lose things like keys or information that I need, that messes up my time and annoys me. But, thatís life.

3. Time: Volunteer work I did for 6 years every summer on an American Indian reservation. Money: My car. I didnít have a car for the longest time. At one point I had to walk to/from work (1 mile each way) or bum a ride from my mom or a friend at work. Finally, I had enough money saved for a down payment on a car. Then, I was free to roam; and money for travel to visit friends who live far away. Resources: Donating food, books and clothing to the poor through my church and other organizations. Emotions: Telling someone I loved them. Trusting others with my fears and insecurities and not being judged for it.

4. My religious beliefs really donít play too big a part in the way I vote. I try and keep the two separate.
