FOUR FOR FRIDAY
Q1: If you were given the opportunity to perform in the circus, and you knew ahead of time that you would not fail, what would you do?
Q2: You've just been hired to a promotions position at a major breakfast cereal company. What would you put in a new cereal box as a gimmick?
Q3: Who is the most famous or well known person you've had a face-to-face encounter with?
Q4: Can you comfortably eat alone in a restaurant with nothing to do at the table but eat, i.e., nothing to read, no earphones to hear music thru, no one to talk with, etc.? What about going to the movies alone?

First time for me, I'm up
1. I might do it if there wasn't anything else better to do.
2. Since I don't eat cereal, I have no idea. Maybe a treasure hunting cartoon?
3. As for well known, general public wise, I'd have to say the one time I got a famous violinist to sign a CD for me. Also, do Nobel laureates count? And physicists in wheelchairs?
4. I wouldn't go alone to a restaurant. I'd feel like everyone would be staring at me. However, I am fine with going to the movies alone.
1. Lion tamer! How cool to be able to work with those big cats!!!
2. Certainly not candy.. How about something like a fortune cookie... happy thoughts.. inspiring words?
3. Not into celebrity sittings.
4. Absolutely... I enjoy lots of things by myself. Going to the movies, going out to eat, shopping, checking out the bookstore, going to church. I enjoy the peace and tranquility. If I want company, I'll buzz a friend...
Q1: I would be a trapeze artist if I believed in going to the circus. I have issues with how cruelly circus animals are treated.
Q2: Body tattoos. Kids of all ages absolutely love them, and they wouldnít take up much room in the cereal box.
Q3: Arnold Schwarzenegger. I was fortunate enough to get to meet him at a Mr. Olympia competition several years ago.
Q4: I donít think I could eat at a restaurant alone, without feeling a bit paranoid. But I go to the movies by myself all of the time. I have always been comfortable with that.
1. Trapeze artist-- hands down. It looks like so much fun!
2. Indie music CD single
3. the poet Adrienne Rich at a Butler U Visiting Writer's series event. The next day, she came into the English Department and spoke to students and afterwards I spent a few minutes talking to her about lesbian culture.
4. Depends on the time of day and the setting. Breakfast in a big city when I'm traveling for work-- no problem. I love it. Dinner around here, though-- probably not. I feel self-conscious. A movie by myself is never a problem. It's a rare treat.
1. Trapeze
2. Condoms
3. Jim Kelly (ex-NFL quarterback)
4. I love eating alone and going to the movies alone. I don't need someone or something there to entertain me.
Mine's up. Check it out. http://chaswelch.com
Every morning I go to a cirrus to work, or so it seems.
I donít know, but one thing for sure it wouldnít be anything that makes noise, like a whistle.
Itís hard to say, I have gotten some writers autographs at book signings. But I also met and got to talk to Dr. Milton Diamond; he is the person who refuted Dr. Money theories on gender.
No, I have a hard time going to restaurants or movies by myself. If I do go I bring a newspaper or book for the very reasons you stated.
Good questions! Mine are up.
Mine are posted! I like the questions for today. :)
i don't know why this doesn't accept my URL, so here are my answers:
Q1: i would be a trapeze artist. i'm not afraid of heights, but the idea of swinging on bars high above the ground and then throwing yourself at another bar--or to be caught by another person--is bold and exhilarating. it also tests your sense of trust in others.
Q2: i'd include tickets to a pro sports event of which my company is a sponsor--though not all the boxes will contain tickets. perhaps only 10. we would hold a second chance, random drawing to award the unclaimed tickets if some of the prize boxes haven't been purchased by the contest deadline.
Q3: my hero, Studs Terkel.
Q4: i could manage eating alone without doing anything but eating. i'd try to get a window seat, though.
i wouldn't go to the movies alone because to me, going out to a show is a social event, and i like to share the movie-going experience with my friends. afterward, we can hang out and talk about it. if i wanted to watch a movie by myself, i'd rent one.
1. Probably Trapeze
2. May cash..Some would have nothing, some a dollar one with $100
3. John Cougar Mellencamp. This was about 1987 I think he was just John Cougar at the time. I was on a plane with him.
4. I have no problem eating in a resteraunt alone with mothing else to do or going to the movie alone
1. In Cirque de Soles(sp), the guy who holds onto the curtain like a flag and flies around. When I saw this in Houston, I was stunned by the guy's strength and physique. It is the same type of strength seen with the ring guys in the Olympic gymnastics.
2. Don't do much cerial. How about a Faithwatch? (I own a watch company called Faithwatch, lol)
3. Hillary, at a hotel in Houston, Bill at the seafarers union hall up close and personal, before he won the democratic nomination, G.H.Bush (41) running at memorial park, Rep.Patrick Kennedy and Dick Gephardt at an Astros game drank beer and ate dogs with them, ;the georgous and supremely talented sopranist, Cecilia Bartoli running around Houston. My favorite, Wally Amos, the chocolate chip cookie guy.
4. I bring a book with me almost everywhere I go, but I have eaten plenty of times alone. Usually, during the work day. I love to people watch.
1. I'd like to be a juggler.
2. A key to a new car. If the key in your box is a certain color...you win a car. If it's a different color, you win a specific amount of money off a new car.
3. Aym Brenneman from the TV show "Judging Amy". Jose Feliciano.
4. No, I don't feel comfortable eating at a restaurant by myself. I have eaten at one of those mall fast-food places once in a city where I didn't know anyone, so it was ok for me. I have gone to the movies by myself several times, but those were matinees--I can justify being alone at a matinee more, than alone on a Friday night. It shouldn't matter, but it does. This weekend I was at a really cool breakfast place, and a man came in alone and waited for a table. I guess if you're not insecure you can do it.
