FOUR FOR FRIDAY

Q1: If you were given 100% control over the casting of a big-budget remake of The Wizard Of Oz, who would you choose to cast in the roles of Dorothy, The Scarecrow, The Cowardly Lion, The Tin Man, The Good Witch of the North, The Wicked Witch of the West, Uncle Henry, Auntie Em, and Toto?

Q2: Five years from now, when you look back on the year that was 2004, what do you think will stand out most in your mind about those 365 days?

Q3: As most everyone now knows, a tsunami triggered by an massive earthquake in the Indian Ocean on Sunday has been linked to the deaths of more than 135,000 people in Asia and East Africa. Despite the massive death toll among humans, Sri Lankan wildlife officials have said the giant waves seemingly missed wild beasts, with no dead animals found. Do you believe that animals have a sixth sense or other mythical powers, which allow them to know about impending danger in a way that humans do not, and that this is responsible for the seemingly low number of animals killed by Sunday's tsunami?

Q4: If fast food had no negative effect on your long- or short-term health, do you think you'd eat more of it than you do now?

Comments:

1. I'd probably cast no-name or little-known name actors for the roles. People who are already famous already have certain connotations (at least in my mind) and they wouldn't really fit the roles.

2. The hecticness near the end of the year.

3. I don't think animals have "sixth sense". They just pay attention better because their primary goal is survival. Humans are arrogant in the fact that they are safe--so they do all sorts of stupid things that get them killed.

4. No. Most fast food doesn't taste that great.

1. I agree with Sya. I don't think there should be any famous actors in any of the roles. Like when Star Wars 1 & 2 were made, the actors were known, and Samuel Jackson--was Samuel Jackson--not the character he was supposed to be. It makes the movie more interesting when major actors don't play the roles in remade movies.

2. It's been a great year; one of the best so far. Certain people and places I visited will stand out the most.

3. I do think animals have a certain sense that makes them more aware of things than humans. Like with a high pitch noise that we can't hear, but some animals can hear, I think there may be something similar with impending danger, like an earth quake. It's always calm before the storm. Do you ever hear birds chirping right before a storm? Same idea.

4. No. Fast food is just fast and cheap. I don't usually eat when I'm on the road, unless I bring a snack from home.

1. I like the old Wizard of Oz a bunch. I don't know; but, I think any attempt at a remake would fall far short of the first one.
2. It was the year a great potential president, Howard Dean, was beaten by money and insiders. I will remember that George Soros, Peter Lewis (both contributed around $17,000,000 to anti-Bush efforts), and Michael Moore tried to prevent the ignorant masses from electing George W. Bush president. I will remember the tsunami.
3. I have heard about this. I have to wonder, even the domesticated cats and dogs were spared? It is amazing. I do believe that science has proven animals are more intuned to many things in the environment that humans are not. It is how they take in information that seems to be the big difference. For example, in Houston for the last month or so, squirrels (sp)are running everywhere. I have figured out that, when they are in the street and a car approaches, they feel it coming on the ground and determine which way to go by that. They get it wrong sometimes. Watch them.
4. Heck yea! I would eat Jack in the Box tacos, Chic fa Lay (sp)burgers, Frenchy's Fried Chicken (it is a southern thing), and MacDonalds french fries all the time. IF it was just as nutricious as the fresh turkey burger, with spinach, tomatoes, jalapenos that I just grilled on my George Foreman grill. I had to go to the store, prepare it all and now I have to clean the grill!

1. Not really sure altough I do not think a modern day remake would be any where close to as good as the original.

2. I thnik there are several issues that will come to mind. The death of Ronald Regan, the Tsunami, my first personal encounter with job downsizing. Hopefully the election a new governor in Indiana will turn our economy around.

3. I think they do. My parents dog is terrified of thunderstorms. Before it even looks like it might rain she begins acting scared and hiding in closets.

4. I might eat some of it although while most of it is OK, there are very few fast food items that I would want to eat frequently.
