FOUR FOR FRIDAY

Q1: Do you like your office space? Why or why not?

Q2: Have you ever changed a flat tire on an automobile? If you never have, do you think you'll be able to if and when the time comes?

Q3: Joseph Ratzinger, now known as Pope Benedict XVI, is being characterized by some as a hero to the conservative wing of the Catholic Church, and by others as something of a Darth Vader figure to liberal Catholics. Despite your religious affiliation, how do you feel about Ratzinger's selection as Pope?

Q4: A privately supported, not-for-profit membership organization, National Public Radio (NPR) serves more than 750 independently operated, noncommercial public radio stations, each of which serves local listeners with a distinctive combination of national and local programming. Do you listen to NPR? If you do listen to NPR, have you ever made a donation to support its efforts? If you do listen but have never made a donation, do you think you ever will? Why or why not?

Q1.dont have office space..but i run my own shed in a factory and yes i like that space.

Q2.Yes i have changed a tyre on a car(automobile??)you americans!!lol.

Q3.You and any regular viewers of this blog already know my views on who i think would have made the best pope!!So "no",i think it will be one of the worst decisions those cardinals have ever made(ok so that is a bit of an overkill)but,i feel strongly about this.I really believe the african cardinal should have been elected!!Time will tell...

Q4.I am an avid listener of community radio here in oz.I'm guessing that is close to what u r talking about.I am not a financial member though as my subscription ran out and it was not a "necessary" bill.

No, itís too cramped, my cubicle is located out on the factory floor and being a supervisor there is no place private to talk to an employee when I have to. What I do like about is that no one can see my computer monitor so answer the ìFour for Fridayî with nobody see me.

Yes I have, but that was back in my younger days. Now I have AAA.

I think itís nothing but an Olí Boyís Club. It is still the same church that persecuted Gallio, that believed that slavery was OK and was against interracial marriage.

I live on the fringe of the local NPR radio station, but I probability wouldnít donate to them.

(1) Yes, for the most part. I'd like an office rather than a cubicle, and a door. But this is OK for now. I'd like to have my own lighting (floor and desk lamps) rather than the fluorescent ceiling lights -- to create a mood.

(2) Not on the road (knock on wood), I'll have to change it if it happens -- I'd feel guilty calling the auto club to do it.

(3) I think it's a fine choice. Conservative American Catholics won't like his opposition to the War on Terror, among other things. I hope that his (s)election, and the consequent return to basics will help to differentiate Roman Catholics from fundamentalist Protestants, many if not most of whom do not consider Roman Catholics to be Christians. But this is too large a discussion for a comments section.

(4) The Wife and I listen, we donate (both to WFYI and WFIU).

1. It's okay. My office is tiny and narrow, but I get a lot of sunlight. On the other hand, it's an old building with little insulation. I hear and feel the vibration of the trucks rumble by on the road outside. The overall office space where I work is unflattering, and ugly. I can't wait to go. The only perk, I have my own office--not a cubicle.

2. I've never had to, but I've seen it done on my own car. I think I could do it if I had to...but isn't that what AAA is for? :o)

3. Since none of us Catholics have any chance to vote for Pope, we really can't change who gets selected. It's not like Pope Ben 16th hasn't been runnig the Vatican in the last few years anyway. The church isn't going to change over night, it will take time. They purposely select conservatives in order to keep "control". I just hope we don't plunge back into the dark ages. PJP2 was a conservative too.

4. I listen to NPR every morning. I haven't contributed, but maybe I should. I like listening to radio without commercials.

1. My offices have ranged from the great outdoors to an relatively nice, open airy space with a door and window. All in all, I'd rather not have an office and just spend it outside.

2. Yes...

3. Ratzinger is a "zinger" of a Pope. While I saw it coming, I didn't want to accept it. He has been, for many years, one of the two most powerful theological voice of the Vatican. I'm not sure if he will temper his attitude and delivery, but he pontificate will more than likely be short-lived, given his age.

4. I listen to NPR as often as possible. If the radio is on, NPR is playing. I typically make a donation once every couple of years.

1. It's not bad. We've got a TV, DVD player and stereo, and a view looking west from the third floor. Pity that it's mostly of the air conditioning units on the roofs of the office buildings across the street though.

2. Of course I have. I change my own oil and rotate my own tires also.

3. I'm not impressed, but not surprised either. I find it funny that the church finds it necessary to do damage control to counteract the Darth Ratzinger/God's rottweiler image. That the Cardinals are shocked at the negative reaction only gives more proof to how out of touch with their own congregations the upper echelons of the church really are.

I'm never really in the car for long enough to listen to more than a few songs as I drive to work, so I never have listened to NPR. However, I do watch PBS, and do contribute to it.

Got mine up.

1. For a cubicle, I have a big one with a window so it's not bad. I would prefer an office with a door that can be closed. Only the VPs and Pres get those.

Yes, I have. Can't do it any more due to physical constraints.

I'm not sure what I think about this new pope. I liked some things about JP2 that it would be nice to see continued. There are other things that I would like to see changed. My gut feeling is that B16 will take the Catholic Church backwards and that won't be good. Guess we will have to wait and see.

I don't listen to any radio much.

I'm very late, but here are my answers:

1. Not really. It's very small and I'm forced to sit with my back to the door which makes me very paranoid. Anyone can come in and surprise me.

2. No I haven't changed a flat tire before. When I got a flat tire a couple weeks ago, I got somebody else to do it.

3. I can see why other people would justify him as a pope, but I really don't agree with his policies on a lot of things.

4. I don't listen to the radio very often either.

1) My office has a window, but the colors are gray and blue, which after a while are kind of boring.
2) Yes, several times.
3) Don't know much about him. The fact that he prayed not to be Pope concerns me a little.
4) I don't listen, but probably ought to support this.
