FOUR FOR FRIDAY
Q1: If you could take a short class for the fun of it, say once a week for four or five weeks, what topic would the class most likely cover?
Q2: Do you think foreign students attending U.S. colleges should automatically be allowed to stay and work in the U.S. upon graduation?
Q3: In many states, knowingly filing a false police report is a considered a crime. Do you think Jennifer Wilbanks, a.k.a. The Runaway Bride, should be prosecuted because she initially reported to a 911 operator in New Mexico that she had been the victim of kidnapping? Regardless of your answer, do you feel Wilbanks should be held liable for the costs incurred by the hundreds of police officers and volunteers in her home town of Duluth, Georgia, who spent three days searching for her?
Q4: Do you have long-term employment or career objectives? If so, what are some of them, and have they changed over the years or have you always had the same goals?

1. Photography.
2. No.
3. I don't think she's a criminal. She sounds like a confused, stressed out woman. Who knows, maybe she was so desperate to get out of the wedding that she had to run away. In any event, she shouldn't have got the police involved and lied about being kidnapped. Not sure she should have to pay back the costs, she's obviously got some problems and people need to be compassionate. It's not like she killed anyone.
4. When I was younger I always dreamed of being a writer, whatever that meant to me at the time. Now, not so much. I've had a long struggle trying to figure out my career objectives, and I really don't know what I want to do. But the one thing I DO know I want is of the stay-at-home variety. I feel like I've wasted too much time in fulfilling my dream of becoming a mother. It sucks the breath out of me whenever I think about it.
Q1) French pastry making.
Q2) No.
Q3) Yes, and Yes. I would give her about 1000 hours of community service and a large fine.
Q4) Yes, and they have changed dramatically in the past 3 years. I no longer want to finish my MLIS. I'd rather get more art education and either become an art teacher, or open my own studio.
1. A creative writing class. There's almost nothing that's less stressful than making stuff up.
2. Yes. Due to the more stringent requirements for foreign students the past couple of years, there's actually been a "brain drain" from the US, to the benefit of other countries. If this keeps up, the US would no longer be at the forefront of innovation.
3. If she broke any laws, then yes, she should be held accountable. I am not sure if she should be liable to the costs for the search, but at the very least, she should apologize for putting them through the trouble. It doesn't really matter why she ran away (realized she didn't want to get married/stress/pressured into something she didn't want to do, etc.) but if she didn't want to get married, there are plenty of other (better) ways that she should of handled it.
4. Yes, I've had long-term career objectives, but I'm currently at a crossroads--so I'm not sure if my previous plans will hold or if I have to make a new one.
(1) Cooking, Asian most likely. Or just a class on knife skills (in the kitchen, silly).
(2) No.
(3) Yes, and yes. If those red-staters are so hung up on personal responsibility, here's a perfect example.
(4) Yes, but I've only had them for the past 4 or 5 years. "Being Large and In Charge" is one of them.
1. Bellydancing!!
2. Heeelll, no. They should go home and contribute to their own economies.
3. I think she's just trying to get a book deal!! Throw the book at her!!
4. Career objectives which haven't come to fruition.
1. Knitting
2. Not automatically, no. If their field of study is one in which there is a shortage of workers? Perhaps
3. Yes. False reporting is a crime, no matter what her logic was for doing it. She's an adult, not some drunken teenager pulling a prank, and should be held responsible for her actions. As to holding her responsible for the costs incurred? She should be held responsible, but we all knwo that if she is, she'll just file banruptcy.
4. My career objectives have changed alot over the years. Mostly now they center around liking the job and the people I work with and being paid well enough to be confortable.
Q1. I think that I would like to take a photo composition class. I have always like taking photographs and I think that I would like to get some formal training.
If you donít mind I would like to shamefully plug my photos.......

Q2 Funny you should ask that question, on last Tuesday I was at a local university having lunch in the facility cafeteria with a Korean grad student. She wants to be a psychologist and is planning on returning to Korea once she graduates.
To answer you question, yes. I think that if there are job openings with taking a job away from an American.
Q3. I think she should be given community service, but not have to pay.
Q4. Naw..... I figure I stay with the company that I am working for at least 3 more years and then more on.
Of course that would make thirty years there and I can retire. That is as long as the stock market doesnít crash in the mean time.
1) Painting.
2) No. The process to stay here is long, tedious, and at times overkill.. but it is needed.
3) Prosecuted... maybe. Pay back the costs... ABSOLUTELY. I shudder to think what will happen the next time a pretty young bride goes missing, and the police have to wonder if it's worth an extra squad car or police dog. This is crying wolf at it's most dangerous extreme.
4) Always the same goal. Become one of the idle rich.
