FOUR-EYED SPECTACLE

So, this past Saturday morning I decided it was time to look into the possibility of getting a new prescription for my glasses. Somehow, I don't think it's necessarily a good thing that I've been wearing the same prescription/glasses since the spring of 1997. Along with the new prescription--which I'll receive after a detailed exam later this week--I'm also looking into the possibility of getting entirely new frames.

Help me out, will ya? Please place your vote for which of the following pair of glasses you feel works best for me?

Did you know: By federal law, eye doctors are required to provide an eyeglass prescription, following an eye exam, at no extra cost. Additionally, by law, consumers have the right to receive a copy of their eyeglass prescription, so that we can shop for the best value in eyewear.

Ever wonder what to do with your old eyeglasses? Consider donating them to Lions Club International, a not-for-profit organization that annually donates more than 5 million pairs of eyeglasses to needy recipients in developing countries all across the globe.

Did you know: Dogs can see in much dimmer light than humans. This is because the central portion of a dog's retina is composed primarily of 'rod' cells that "see" in shades of gray, while human central retinas have primarily 'cone' cells that perceive color. The rods need much less light to function than cones do. Finally, dogs can see flickering light better than you and I. The only significance to this appears to be that dogs may see television as a series of moving frames rather than as a continuous scene.

Aside from the fact that I can be accused of being a giant 'rod' for posting these pictures, honestly, which one(s) do you think works best for me and my goofy face?

Comments:

Speaking as a friend, DON'T do #1! To continue, option #2 didn't get a fair picture, as you have a very Eugene Levy thing going on. I like, in descending order, #10, #3, & #7. However, I'm not sure that we can see the detail; therefore, I'm not sure how fair this assessment is. Or, you could just say 'to hell' with it all, and go for some 'hip' glasses like that one chick that we always used to see at OR.

I like... 2, 4 and 8. But not necessarily in that order. I love glasses in general, so I don't think you're anything negative at all. :)
The dark frames look good if they hide your eyebrows, the wire frames look good if they show your eyebrows. See what you get for asking?

I am leaning toward a 3, but that may be because that is the only picture in which you are smiling.

I like number 2 the best. I also like number 10, and number 12. :)

Hey, whatís up with the quotes MB. Howís about changing them at least once a week brother?!

I'd have to go with 3 and 10, although I also sorta like 11, but it's a little tough to see for sure. Good luck . . . and next time, smile a little more. ;^)

Do Two

I really like 7. The pair in 2 looks like it would be nice, but I wish it was a closer-up shot. Are those clear or a light green or blue?

Posted by: Melody at July 12, 2005 9:57 AM

8, 3 & 11 in that order.

Posted by: Elaine at July 12, 2005 11:37 AM

i think #10, 3, or possibly 2 but it's hard to tell. i got new glasses recently and went with the cheapest pair... now i know why they were on sale: they have never quite fit and they sit crooked on my face! oh well, live and learn.

Hey, I was just talking to you (in person) and like the ones you currently have. Stick with those unless you're just really in need of a change!

Posted by: at July 12, 2005 2:56 PM

5, 7 or 10.

Posted by: Missy at July 12, 2005 6:02 PM

Instinctual first responses:
1=virgin 17-yr old enlisted marine
2=crossdresser
4=smart alternative free thinker, doesn't care about current fashion, a la Moby
5=sensitive, in-touch w/ my feminine side
6&7=missed my calling as librarian
9&10=executive in training
11=must not try new look (is this a trick photo-these are your old frames, no?)

Any would be good, although I have to be honest that 1 is a little strong. Let us know what you choose!

I like #7, followed closely by #10. They both sit nicely on your face.

Posted by: Stephanie at July 13, 2005 9:29 AM

I'm for 2 if you think you need to change.

Posted by: Debbie at July 13, 2005 12:04 PM

I'd say 7 or 8

Posted by: mike at July 14, 2005 11:37 AM

#7 in a black would rock... that's the bes shape for you

Posted by: Jerry Chrisman at July 15, 2005 12:23 PM

# 7

Posted by: at July 15, 2005 8:26 PM

2 or 10 please. 2 is my favorite.

Posted by: Renee at July 21, 2005 10:56 AM

You have to go with 4!

Posted by: kim at July 21, 2005 10:09 PM

1st, I'm impressed with your self-confidence in posting these. Great idea though. I wish I would have thought of doing this before spending close to $500 on my new pair recently.

I thought Oscarina's comments were really funny. So which pair did you settle on.

As for my preference, the wire-rimmed and light colored frames complemented your hair color and skin tone and accentuated your face very nicely.

Big square or dark frammed glasses break up your face into segments- not a flattering choice.

I think 8

Posted by: Doug at July 31, 2005 1:16 PM

#2 definitely. by far the best. #8 is the best of the rest.

Posted by: JS at August 8, 2005 2:37 PM

numb 2 or 9

Posted by: ss at April 28, 2006 5:32 AM

I like 3 and 10
3 is sunshiny
10 is gentleble
