FOUR FOR FRIDAY
Q1: At 12:01 a.m. Saturday morning, the next installment in the Harry Potter series will be made available for purchase at bookstores all across the world. Have you ever stood in line for what could be considered an outrageous amount of time for something like concert tickets, the premier of a movie, or the release of a book?
Q2: What's size mattress do you sleep on, and how many pillows do you sleep with?
Q3: Have you ever forgotten where you parked your car, say in an underground parking garage or large parking lot at a shopping mall or airport? If so, how long did it take for you to find your car, and what sorts of techniques do you now use to avoid the same thing from happening again?
Q4: How long does it generally take you to fall asleep? Has that amount of time changed any over the last 1, 5, or 10 years? If so, what do you attribute the change to?

(1) I was an assistant manager at a Barnes & Noble when book 4 came out. We all got to dress up in capes and stuff, and one of the huge employees dressed up as a very convincing Hagrid that was not based on Robbie Coltrane's character. I also once lined up 2 hours early to get front row seats for a Wynton Marsalis concert.
(2)Queen size mattress, and it depends on how thick the pillows are, usually 2 or 3.
(3) Yes, and about 15 minutes. It usually happens in a foreign, one-time parking lot, so I don't usually make plans for a repeat of the occurrence.
(4) 5-10 minutes. I've never had too much trouble falling asleep. If I can't, usually the reason is something obvious -- my brain is going a mile a minute, something hurts, etc.
Nope. I never wanted to see something so bad that I would wait in line.
King sizes with two large pillows.
Oh yes, at college the parking in lots were acres upon acres and it took longer then I want to remember. Youíll come back to the dorm 1:00 ñ 2:00 in the morning and leave your car there for a couple of days until you needed to go out for something. Then it was ìOh where #!@$ did I park this time?î and you would have to go and hunt for it.
5 ñ 10 minutes if work went OK or nothing was bothering me, 1 ñ 2 hours if it was a stressful day. Because of the medication I am taking, I wake up around 2 -3 in the morning for a trip to the bathroom and try to fall back to sleep before the alarm clock goes off at 5:00am. So on a good night six hours of sleep and on a bad night fours hours or less.
Q1) Well, DUH. I'm getting in line at 9 tonight. It's my third HP midnight book party.
Q2) Queen -- how appropriate is that? One pillow.
Q3) Yes, when I first moved to Seattle. Took me about 20 minutes to find the car. Now I just hitchhike.
Q4) About 20 minutes. It used to take me hours to fall asleep. However, once I wake up, I'm up, whether it's 2AM or 6AM.
1. Back in the day my friends and I camped out for concert tickets quite alot. I think the longest time was 18 hours for the first Pink Floyd reunion tour in '87.
2. Queen, with 5 pillows.
3. I only forget where I park when I'm someplace unfamiliar, but it's never so bad that it ends up like that episode of Seinfeld. I usually try to find some permanent landmark that can tell me if I'm in the general area.
4. Maybe 15 minutes if I don't stay up too late or go to bed too early. It's been pretty much steady like that for a good long time.

1. No. I am inherently impatient and hate waiting for things.
2. Queen pillow-top mattress, and I sleep with two pillows, plus my husband's shoulder.
3. I'm sure I've lost my car once or twice -- tho not recently. I am a pretty habitual person, and I usually go to the same stores and park in the same general location.
4. THese days I fall into bed exhausted and am asleep within 15 minutes...but it can take me longer. I usually fall asleep fairly easily and always have, unless there's something wrong.
1. I also stood on line for the Pink Floyd reunion concert back in 1987, and that was just to get a wrist band to buy tickets. The next day I skipped school (my parents let me) and I waited for tickets, but they sold out before I got a chance to buy any. Later, a friend of mine had an extra ticket so I got to go.
2. I sleep in a queen size bed. Have two pillows, but like to use only one, I need to have my neck flat.
3. I haven't really gotten lost in a parking lot/garage. I usually remember the row number, which makes it easier to find my car after a concert or shopping at the mall. Underground parking is annoying because sometimes I return through a different door. Only takes a couple of minutes to find the car.
4. It usually takes me a while to fall asleep, especially if there's noise keeping me awake or I'm stressed out and have too much on my mind. It usually changes due to my living situation or other life factors.
1. The longest I have ever stood in line was for an amusement ride. I have gone to midnight releases of Harry Potter books before and will go tonight, too.
2. I sleep in an extra long King size bed with 2-3 pillows.
3. I know I have misplaced my car before, but I can't remember when. The nice thing about forgetfullness is how selective it can be.
4. It usually takes me less than 5 minutes to fall asleep. The only change is if I walk before I go to bed... then I usually need to read a little and then it takes about 5 minutes.
I'm all late this week so I will just answer here:
Q1: At 12:01 a.m. Saturday morning, the next installment in the Harry Potter series will be made available for purchase at bookstores all across the world. Have you ever stood in line for what could be considered an outrageous amount of time for something like concert tickets, the premier of a movie, or the release of a book?
We stood in an outrageous line to see the last installment of Lord of the Rings. And I made Shawn take me to a midnight preview of the last Harry Potter movie. Last night, I went to Borders and stood in a long line to get the new Harry Potter book but they were all gone
Q2: Whatís size mattress do you sleep on, and how many pillows do you sleep with?
Queen. Just one. I need to get a new pillow, though. I decided that this morning.
An hour or more unless I drug myself. I attribute the change to the increase in the amount of stress and worry in my life.
Forgot to answer the one about the car. Yes. I wandered around lost for a long time until I found it. Now, I have a "panic button" on my keys and if I lose the paper where I wrote my spot # down (and I ALWAYS write it down now) I walk around pressing the panic button until the alarm goes off.
