FOUR FOR FRIDAY

Q1: What were the last food and/or drink items you bought from a vending machine?

Q2: If you were brave enough to change the color of your hair, what color would you change it to?

Q3: Do you belong to a membership-based DVD fulfillment service such as Netflix? If so, what titles are you currently waiting to receive/watch? If not, what was the last DVD or video you watched?

Q4: At the age of 13, Mitchell Johnson was sentenced to serve 7.5 years in prison for the murder of four of his schoolmates and a teacher in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Last week, Johnson, now 21, was released from prison. According to Arkansas state law, Johnson will not be on parole nor will he be monitored in any capacity whatsoever. And because he was tried as a juvenile, there won't even be a record of his conviction. In short, Johnson will be afforded opportunities given to every young U.S. citizen. He is free to vote and can even purchase guns, if he so chooses. Taking his age into consideration, in your opinion, was justice served in the Mitchell Johnson affair?

Comments:

1. It's been a while -- probably some potato chips at work and a Tropicana pink lemonade at the Goodwill sale at the state fairgrounds.

2. Pink.

3. No, because I don't watch enough DVDs to make it worthwhile. The last thing I watched was season one of Mad About You.

4. From the description, I'm skeptical, but I'd want to know more about his rehabilitation and any re-entry programs before I could give a better answer.

1) I bought some peanut butter M&Ms on Monday.
2) I highlight my hair already; and I don't like to color it b/c I hate the look of roots being different than the rest of the hair. Assuming I could avoid that problem, I've been toying with the idea of going to classic brown for a while, just to see how it would look. Half my formerly-blond hair is already brown anyway.
3) Yeah, my husband won a free year of Netflix, and we love it. We've probably seen more movies in the last 6 months than in the three years preceding it. Right now we have "Dora the Movie," "Glory," and "Raising Helen." I forget what the next on the list is.
4) Tough, tough question. Taken at face value, it seems like we've basically just sent a ticking time bomb back into society, but I don't know what his prison experience was. I assume it just made him more of a tough guy. But, maybe he had some effective counseling. Who knows, really? Justice is a relative term, in this case, I think. If justice was really served, the 7.5 years he got for killing 5 (!) people would have been much more, and started out in juvie, where, at least theoretically, there's more hope for true rehab.

1. Doritos and a bottle of water, I think.

2.Dark red

3. No Netflix for me. I wouldn't want to plan to rent DVDs and have to wait for them. I'd rather drive two minutes to Hollywood Video and rent a movie when I feel like watching something. I'm watching Roswell Season 3 on DVD right now, but Constantine and Million Dollar Baby are sitting on top of the TV set too.

4. I don't think justice was served. Regardless of age, he still took the lives of 5 people. I think he should be monitored and definitely not allowed to purchase a gun. Some adults who commit one murder have to spend the rest of their lives in prison. It's not fair that someone who killed 5 people is now free.

1. Regularly buy Snapples and bottled water from machines

2. Not a mattter of courage at all, my hair is fine. Occasionally, like in Iraq I'll go bald.

3. No services. Can't recall last DVD. Watched dozens in Iraq, stopped when I got home.

4. The law was served, but sometimes the law can only approximate justice, so no.

Q1: A sprite and a bag of M&Mís.... then I felt extremely guilty for 2 days.

Q2: I was brave enough....twice. I am a natural brunette. The first time I chose to go blonde, and it was okay for a while, but it just wasnít me. The second time, I went black... not cute when you are in your 30ís. I have decided, after looking back, that I shall keep my brown locks and love every minute of it.

Q3: The last DVD I watched, was the 4400 series. I have dish network, so I donít belong to a service.

Q4: No. He should have had to spend the remainder of his life in jail. The people he killed, can no longer vote, or go to the store, or to the movies, or see their families. Why should the person who took their rights, and lives away, have the right to do anything besides rot in a prison cell.

1. Nacho cheese crackers while workign the graveyard shift at the Grocery Ranch.

2. Well, I already highlight it, but I often wonder what I'd look like with black hair.

3. Oh man, there's about 350 titles in my queue right now. On deck right now are I just returned 20 Bucks, have Hush Hush Sweet Charlotte on the tv, and am waiting for Touching The Void to arrive.

4. He's served the letter of the law, but because of his age when he committed the murders, he's skated around the intent of it. It's too late in this case but I honestly think that the laws regarding minors who commit violent crimes should be changed to at least require some sort of parole, and the inclusion of the crime on a permanant record.

1. I don't remember the last time I used a vending machine. There's one at work, but I don't use it. My office has a "snack shelf" where you can buy candybars or chips and you just put the money in the box. I bought a Twix.

2. I'd probably go with some red highlights. Don't want to make too drastic of a change.

3. No, don't subsrcibe.

4. Tough to say. He was 13 when it happened, so he knew what he was doing. I hope he had intensive rehab, but who knows what goes on inside those prisons. Hopefully he has some type of supportive environment to return to when he gets out. I'd be worried he do something just as horrible again. I wouldn't want him living in my neighborhood.

At the hotel last night where I was staying in Pittsburgh. I bought a bag of Goldfish and a soda, the prices were outrageous, 75 cents for the Goldfish and a $1.75 for the soda. Normal when I am at work I will by a muffin in the morning and a candy bar in the afternoon.

Thatís easy, ash blonde. I just put on a wig and cover up my grey hair when I go out.

Nope. The last DVD I bought and watched was ěCampî

I think it was wrong. I think that he should serve time just like anyone else who commits murder. I believe that for juveniles they should be tried in adult court if they have commited a major felony, like murder, armed robbery, etc.
