FOUR FOR FRIDAY

Q1: What's the last item of clothing you ironed? Do you enjoy ironing? If you never iron--opting instead to bring your clothes to a cleaner--do you use a 'green' cleaner or a traditional dry cleaner?

Q2: How many doors do you open over the course of a typical day? Which door do you look forward to opening the most?

Q3: How important are 'the arts' in your life? Are you the type of person who just has to go to the museum in order to stay sane or make sense of life, or could you care less about what people commonly refer to as ëthe artsí?

Q4: If you had the budget to do so, what benefit would you add to your employerís benefits plan?

Q1: A blouse the last minute before I was heading out the door and decided it needed ironing. Itís something that has to be done. No, I donít use dry cleaning

Q2: About sixteen doors ( counting double doors as two, like when you go in to a store and they have an outer door and an inner door. ). The door from work when I am leaving for the day.

Q3: I am of member of a local art gallery http://www.realartways.org/ I go to just to enjoy ëthe artsí, I guess you can say ëto stay saneí because it is relaxing and I can loose myself in the art.
Also my hobby is photography, and I can also loose myself when I am out shooting. One time I was so involved in photographing a waterfall out in the woods, that I didnít notice that a family was watching me for about fifteen minutes.

Q4: I donít invest in the companyís 401K because all they allow is for you to buy their stock and you have to hole it for 5 years. So if I could I would add a variety of mutual funds to choose from.

Q1: I believe that I ironed a pair of pants or a shirt back in March - April '05. Usually, my lovely wife Nikki does that chore. She does a better job of it anyways.

Q2: I have never counted, but it's not really much more that a dozen or so. I look forward to opening the garage door the most, because it symbolizes the rythmn and routine of my life: going to work, getting in the car to go to the store, taking the kids to where ever they need to go, getting out of the house to play, etc.

Q3: Very important. I love to go to the art museums and galleries. I also like to attend stage plays and concerts. I guess it's more important to me than most people because I see most everything as "art" in some way. I try to see the beauty (lines, form, color, harmony, etc) in most everything. Trees and clouds are my most favorite nature items. My wife, Nikki, is my favorite human model.

Q4: Answer: An extra week of paid vacation. An extra 5 days would be so helpful in getting stuff done around the house and going on side trips.

1) Shirts for my fiance. I hate ironing, but I love making him happy and seeing how spiffy he looks. We don't usually need to iron, just if we forget things in the dryer for too long...

2) Not many as I don't have a lot of closed doors in my house. In fact, today I can only think of two so far... the front door and my car door. I've never really thought of whether or not I specifically look forward to them... but I guess, the front door, because it is the doorway to the world for me.

3) I don't get to museums often, but very much enjoy them when I do. But I love the arts and participate in other ways... I love to read, and I look things up online all the time.

4) I'm self employed, so... all of them! :)

1. Probably a shirt for work, and i HATE ironing. I saw somewhere that even if you value yoru time very cheaply, it may be worthwhile to farm that chore out to others and pay for it.

2. Probably about 25-30 if counting things like refrigerator and cabinet doors (and not counting the same door multiple times). The door I lookforward to opening most? My front door when I'm finally home for the night.

3. They're reasonably important. It's not a matter of keeping my sanity, but it counterbalances the pop-culture trash that you just know sucks the IQ points out of you.

4. Vision care, and/or DP benefits.

Hi - if you get this in the next hour or so, write back! Matt is checking on some homes that belong to friends of mine in Bay St Louis, and then stopping by my house in Meridian, MS for red beans and rice before his long drive home. I want to put together a cooler of food for him for the drive, what does he like to eat and drink? What caffeineted beverages does he like? Thank you so much. You can call too: 601-693-0714, or 601-479-2727. Thank you! I know this is a wierd place to write this note - got your name from his blog, which brought me to yours and I don't know your email. thank you, Kristin Blackwell

1. A pair of pants last night before I went to bed. I needed to wear them to work today. I don't like to iron, especially long sleeved shirts, they are the hardest to do. I don't use a dry cleaner, but if I did I would look for a 'green' one.

2. About nine to ten doors. The best door I open is my front door at the end of the day. It lets me into my home and closes out the busy-ness of the outside world.

3. I enjoy the arts a lot. I love to see the old paintings by the "masters" when I go to a museum. I also appreciate local, modern artist. You can't get away from art, it is embedded in every aspect of society. What a bland world it would be without art.

4. Extra two weeks of work. Every other Friday off with pay, and you don't have to use vacation days to get it. Or some kind of incentive plan to earn days off. Life enhancing classes that the company pays for, so if an employee wants to learn how to paint, or learn a new language, or take an educational trip they can do so at the company's expense. Anything to help employees stay motivated and feel like they are valued.
