ORANGE MUSHROOMS
Just in time for Halloween, we stumbled across these interesting looking mushrooms while hiking around Ogle Lake at Brown County State Park (Nashville, IN).
Does anyone know what these mushrooms are called, as well as what the adaptation is that makes them orange? In other words, in the spirit of fall and Halloween, did some enterprising park ranger spread food coloring over them in order to spice things up a bit, or is the coloring natural and meant to deter predators, i.e., Bambi and Raccoon Ralph , from gobbling it up? Just wondering if anyone knows?

Ooh, very pretty. I've never seen those before.
I was curious so I did a google search and this is what I found. If these are the right ones, they are called Jack-O-Lantern mushrooms. Check out the link below.

the mushrum is orange and hase like a spirol on it and they r not verry big at all like an inch across or inch and half ?
they look like velvet shank and if so they would be great in soup

WOw i have the same mushrooms in my from yard tree, but they are alot, i dont know what are they but they give some color to my yard i LOVE THEM!
