2005 INDIANAPOLIS HALF-MARATHON, PART II
Here are my results from this past Saturday's 10th Annual Indianapolis Marathon & Half-Marathon:
Time: 2:54:09 (my fastest time ever!)
Pace: 13:18 per mile
Overall Place: 1,031st out of 1,237 total runners
Gender Place: 534th out of the 565 men who ran the race
Division Place: 98th out of the 101 men who ran in the 40-44 year-old age category
While 2:54:09 is four minutes and nine seconds (4:09) slower than what I was aiming for, it is three minutes and twenty seconds (3:20) faster than my previous personal best for the half-marathon, so I'm pretty pleased with the result. (As for the soreness in my arms and legs... well, that does sorta suck, but hey, no pain, no gain, right?)
Next up, the 2005 Drumstick Dash on Thanksgiving Day morning up in Broad Ripple.

You go, Mikal. You should be pleased. I've never been attracted to the idea of running that much or that long. Of course, I'm not generally attracted to the idea of most exercise, so I'm impressed with your efforts.
Congrats, Mikal. See you in Chicago next October. (Register early; it fills up quickly.) If Oprah can do it in 6 hours, you can too.
Impressive Mikal. It has been a long time since my last half or full marathon, but now I am thinking of doing another. I just tried to run 3 miles at the Town Lake track here in Austin and I could not finish that! Running is that way. If the soreness is not going away......get a massage!
