FOUR FOR FRIDAY - THE FOOD EDITION

Q1 - The Last Supper: If you could place an order today for your very last and final meal--with the option for said meal to be cooked/prepared by anyone of your choice, dead or alive--what would you order and who would prepare it?

Q2 - Cooking Class: It's three years from now and you've been asked to teach a fun and engaging one-time class at a local cooking school. What are you qualified to teach, and/or what would you like to teach?

Q3 - Cravings: When you have uncontrollable cravings for food, is it for something salty, hot, spicy, greasy, crispy, sweet, buttery, sour/tart, creamy, peppery, steamed, citrusy, rich, melted, pungent, hard, bitter, crunchy, fresh, chilled, oily, gritty, savory, tangy, sharp, zesty, or sweet-smelling?

Q4 - Holiday Weight: Each year millions of U.S. citizens look forward to sitting down at the table with family and friends for a special Thanksgiving Day meal. Woven into the nostalgia of the holiday are the types of dishes which evoke memories of childhood and family togetherness, along with an unhealthy side dish of guilt, which if not poured on by family is surely brought on by the weight of extra calories and excessive portions. According to several leading studies, the average American will reportedly gain 5 to 7 pounds between Thanksgiving and New Years. Keeping in mind that 3,500 calories equals one pound, how many pounds do you think you might gain this holiday season, or are you one of the rare few who plans on actually loosing weight or maintaining your current weight?

Q1 - The Last Supper: This is a easy one, appetizer: Steamed Long Neck Clams, soup: New England Clam Chowder, salad: Caesar, main course: Lobster Newberg and corn on the cob, dessert: tiramisu and to wash it all down a dry Riesling. Any chef, as long as it a good one.

Q2 - Cooking Class: Boiling water ÖÖ.. Just kidding! I would like to teach some of my favorite recipes: Veal ( or Chicken ) Scaloppini, Saltim Bocca and Shrimp ( or Chicken ) Creole. My favorite recipes can be found here:
www.geocities.com/diana_57_us/recipes.html

Q3 - Cravings: Bar-B-Que Potato Chips, Cheddar Cheese Potato Chip, if I am in a really decadent mood, Chocolate Cream Filled Donuts and if I am worried about my cholesterol then Salsa and Taco Chips.

Q4 - Holiday Weight: I try to maintain my weight over the holiday season. I try to eat soups and salads on weeks that I know I have to go out to dinner or to a party. At Thanksgiving and Christmas I try to take smaller proportions.
Notice I used the word ìTryî, sometime I am successful other years I am not.

Q1 - Instant Chicken broth and.. oh wait. *ponders* I would want Madonna to prepare a Prime Rib steak, homemade mashed potatos, corn on the cob and a nice glass of merlot. I wonder if she sings while she cooks...?

Q2 - WOW, see I cannot cook. I have ruined Kool-Aid before (It didn't mix, it was in little floating red clumps). I would teach the finer ways to re-heat a tv dinner so the meat was done just right and how to not make yer veggies all dried out and raisin-like.

Q3 - Salty and Crunchy...usually

Q4 - I'm skin and bones. I'll be lucky if I eat enough I actually clean off my plate. Sheesh I wish I could gain some holiday weight.

Q1 - Last Meal: That's easy... I'd order up some Captain Crunch Crusted Chicken, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans, and Salad, all prepared by my Brother, Kenny "Kitchen Kenny" Belicove.

Q2 - Cooking Class: Twice-Baked Potatoes. I'd teach people how to make my own special brand of Twice-Baked Potatoes. Trust me, they're something to behold.

Q3 - Cravings: Sweet; I almost always crave something sweet (except for when I'm getting over being really sick... then I crave spicy.

Q4 - Holiday Weight: I actually have the audacity to state that I plan to lose weight between Thanksgiving Day and New Years.

1) An order of the classic tex mex enchilades from the Chuy's on Westheimer and Kirby in H-town. And an order of chips with Green sauce. Without a doubt.

2) Grilling for the Marinading Impaired

3) Lo about February, I always get a mad, evolutionarily inspired craving for a pound of bacon in one sitting. No regrets. But only once a year.

4) I will lose weight because of a holiday coke bender.

1. I would have French Onion Soup, a salad with feta cheese, the entree would be some tasty creation centered on blackened Mahi, dessert would be chocolate mousse with some "Dancing Goats Blend" espresso drink or just drip coffee. In this fantasy world, I'll pretend that the dead figure I'd like to talk to also happens to be a kickass cook. I'd want President Thomas Jefferson to cook. And, I'd like to have the opportunity to talk to him before, during and after the meal.

2. I would teach my Bison Chili.

3. I get cravings for filet mignon, Mahi, and prime rib.

4. I imagine that I will maintain. Then again, I have no idea how much I weigh today, and I doubt that I will check after the holiday season. The last time I was on a scale, a doctor instructed me to be there.

Q1) Pizza, pizza, and more pizza from Someguys and Union Jack's.
Q2) Sauces and frostings at Williams-Sonoma for rich people who want to throw their money away.
Q3) Salty and sweet like chocolate-covered pretzels.
Q4) I never gain weight during the fall and winter as I'm more active when it's colder outside. Summer is when I gain weight as I hate being out in the heat. I typically maintain or lose about 5 pounds during December.
