FOUR FOR FRIDAY
Q1 - Overcome: Name one physical challenge you'd like to accomplish before you die?
Q2 - Fuel: Twenty (20) years from now, what do you think you'll be using to fuel your car: Gasoline, Hydrogen, Ethanol, Biodiesel, a Hybrid System, or something else entirely?
Q3 - Poking Fun: Cartoons first published in a Danish newspaper last fall, then reprinted in other publications across Europe in recent weeks, have sparked outrage across the Islamic world. From a cartoon image depicting Muhammad wearing a turban crafted into the shape of a bomb with a lit fuse, to another showing the seventh-century prophet standing in heaven telling a line of suicide bombers to stop because "We've run out of virgins," the cartoons hold nothing back in terms of poking fun at Muslims. Do you feel the newspapers in question were justified in publishing these cartoons? If so, would your opinion change if highly offensive cartoons related to some aspect of your own religion were published in your hometown newspaper?
Q4 - Cell Phones: How many different cell phones have you owned, and what was the reason for switching to the one youíre using now?

Q1 - Overcome: Name one physical challenge you'd like to accomplish before you die?
I'd love to be able to run a marathon. I'm not a good distance runner and would love to train to overcome that. I've done rock-climbing in the California desert and surfed in Hawaii, but I've never done a marathon.
Q2 - Fuel: Twenty (20) years from now, what do you think you'll be using to fuel your car: Gasoline, Hydrogen, Ethanol, Biodiesel, a Hybrid System, or something else entirely?
According to my son, hydrogen fuel. He feels we'll somehow separate the hydrogen from the oxygen in water and use it as fuel. Don't ask me... That isn't my arena of knowledge...
I do believe in freedom of speech. However, that does not grant free license. I don't think we would appreciate humor regarding the holocaust or September 11th, 2001. There's a fine line here between political humor, free speech and disrespecting the culture of others. I think it is a place that we should all tread lightly.
Q4 - Cell Phones: How many different cell phones have you owned, and what was the reason for switching to the one you're using now? I'm not sure on the exact number, maybe 5 or so. I like to upgrade when I can to a newer model with all the latest gadgets. I'm hoping to get a new one later this month. I just need to decide what I want.
mine is up, at the end of my Feline Friday entry.

1 - Hike the Continental Divide Trail
2 - Hybrid systems, we'll be using oil/gas for a while more, the technology will take longer to play out
3- Did they cross the line with the cartoons, probably. Are the reactions to them crossing the line, definitely, way over the line.
4 - I've owned about 6. Sometimes I switched to go smaller. Sometimes (pre-number portability), to change providers. Most often, my phone just plain dies.
1. I'd love to dive the wreck of the Andrea Doria.
2. I'm thinking hybrid as well. Big oil will throw every obstacle possible in the path of any alternatives.
3. Of course they were justified. Just because a group may be offended doesn't mean they should get a free ride and be exempted from criticism, whether it's serious or satirical, written or visual. As to how I'd deal? I've dealt with seeing and reading materials that are highly offensive to groups I belong to for years. Never once have I been tempted to riot, burn or issue death threats.
4. I'm on my third. The only reason I have the phone I now use is that it I signed up for a new contract and swapped for the second-to-cheapest model then offered.
Q1 - Overcome: Hike the Appalachian Trial. I doubt I will ever do it, but it is something I always wanted to do.
Q2 - Fuel: In ten years, I think it will be a hybrid system using hydrogen fuel. Hydrogen burns clean and the hybrid system would be the most efficient.
Q3 - Poking Fun: I believe in the First Amendment rights, but at the same time, as they always say, it does not give you the right to yell fire. You have to be aware of what the result would be if you exercise that right.
Q4 - Cell Phones: I have owned one cell phone; I have had it for the last five years and I do not want to switch it. I like it because it is big (about L5î X W2î X D1.5î), it is easy to see the numbers and fit nicely in the palm of me hand.
But I will have to change it some day soon because Connecticut has a hands free law for cell phones.
P.S. I use it a total of about 10 minutes a month.
Q1 - Physical Challenge: Learn to properly swim freestyle.
Q2 - Fuel: I think cars will be hybrids of some sortÖ no single energy source will be able to replace petro products, so engineers will need to design a car that uses solar energy plus something else, such as bio-diesel.
Q3 - Poking Fun: I believe in free speech, but I also believe in showing respect. Religions are sacred to almost every people and should be respected. I think it's hypocritical that the Taliban blew up that ancient Buddhist statue in Afghanistan, and then these fundamentalist Muslims demand respect for their religious icons. All people should respect all traditional religions and tolerate them to the point at which they do not infringe on their own religious freedoms. Many people value religion more than they do their own lives, and those values should be respected. I say we should have the right to publish those cartoons and the good sense not to do it.
Q4 - Cell Phones: My wife has had two cell phones, but I'm ambivalent to the whole idea of carrying a phone around with you. My dentist has outlawed them in her office. She's my hero.
