FOUR FOR FRIDAY
Q1 - Pictures: When was the last time someone took a picture of you, and what were you doing? If you can't remember, then when was the last time you took a picture, and what was it of?
Q2 - Vice President Cheney: Texas authorities have already cleared U.S. Vice President Dick Cheney of any wrongdoing over last weekend's incident in which he shot, i.e., ěpeppered pretty well,î a 73-year-old hunting companion in the face. Do you feel the White House and Mr. Cheney himself acted appropriately in their handling of the incident?
Q3 - Real Estate: Do you feel real estate agents' commissions are justified?
Q4 - Best Friends: Who was your first bestest friend, and, are you still friends with them? If you're not in touch with your first best friend, do you keep in touch with anyone you knew--aside from family--when you were between the ages of five and ten?

Q1 - Pictures: Last week was the last time someone took a picture of me. It was at a local avant-garde art gallery that has a cocktail hour each month and I was standing holding a drink in my hand. I am always with my camera and I take pictures of landscapes, lighthouse, etc.
Q2 - Vice President Cheney: The part that I did not like was the fact that he did not let the local police interview him until the next day. The part about not releasing the information to the press or not holding a news conference is all political, but not allowing the police to interview, I think, shows special treatment.
Q3 - Real Estate: Since I just sold my parentís house last December, I think a real estate agent adds value in prescreening buyers and the legal aspects of selling a house. Radon tests, lead test, asbestosis test, HUD paperwork, home inspections, etc, etc.
Q4 - Best Friends: Yes, I am still friends with my elementary school friends and we usually get together two or three times a year. It should be interesting this summer when I plan on coming out to them. I will see who will be able to handle it and who will walk away.
Thanks for the questions! My answers are up at my Xanga and Homeschool Blogger blogs and I'll include them below.
Q1 - My #2 daughter took a picture of me with the twins for our report back to Ethiopia. We have to send in 3 reports this year and one every year thereafter until the twins turn 18. Each twin needs 4 pictures. Some pictures should be the child alone and some should be the child with various family members. Since I am always taking the pictures around here, I figured I should be in at least one. I was going to post it but Xanga seems to have picture issues today. I was playing "Twin Patty Cake" which is somewhat different than "Singleton Patty Cake" in that you use one hand from each twin to play patty cake. Inevitably, when one twin wants to play in my lap, the other one claims his/her place on the other leg.
Q2 - Hmmm...well, my understanding was that the initial silence was due to their trying to locate family to tell the news. I think they probably should have announced it soon after family was notified but I love that a small local paper was given the news rather than a member of the mainstream media.
Q3 - Well...it is a lot of money but when you consider how many houses an agent sells in the course of a year as well as the hassle it is to sell and show houses, I think it might be closer to reasonable. If you don't want to use a realtor, you certainly have that option.
Q4 - Well, I didn't have a "bestest friend" between those ages. My bestest friend dates from jr. high and yes, I'm still in contact with her. I don't keep in contact with anyone from elementary school. We moved when I was in the 6th grade to a whole different part of town so I lost all those childhood contacts.
Q1: I take pictures a lot through the Community Adventure Program, but I am typically not in a lot of them because I am usually the sharp shooter. I think the last picture taken of me was with my fiance when we were up in Breckenridge skiing with her family.
Q2: A lot of people are railing Cheney for how he handled the situation and I think it was handled properly. Crisis management, especially when it involves someone like the Vice-President of the United States is touchy. 24 hours is a reasonable timeframe to make a statement. If you go public too early, you get the facts wrong and make a mess. If you wait too late, you raise suspicion that you are hiding something. What I would pose to critics of Cheney is what if you were in his shoes and just shot a good friend? What would you do? How would you feel? Would you want to be criminally charged for a horrible accident like this?
Q3: Someone has to hussle real estate and show properties to the masses. I guess it is kind of like commissions for investment bankers. I cringe when I have to pay it, but it's a dirty job and someone has to do it.
Q4: My bestest friend would be Tom Tom Peters who I grew up with in New Orleans. Come high school we were going in different directions and hanging out with different crowds, but I still see him when I get back home and we often talk about the good times we had growing up.
Mine is up on my blog but the comments won't accept the URL.

1. About two weeks ago at my niece Holly's wedding reception. I was hanging out with my sister's mother-in-law and my brother.
2.Absolutely not. Even if this was a legitimate, if regrettable, accident (which I doubt) the continued stonewalling and grudgingly released information only makes it look like there IS something that is being hidden. And let's face it, given this administration's knack for having unsavory secrets suddenly become public knowledge, no one could be blamed for thinking the worst.
3. Never having bought or sold real estate, I have no opinion.
4. My first best friend was a kid named Kevin, who moved to Milwaukee after his parents divorced when we were 12. I havent heard from him since we were about 17. Other than that, I do see my friend Craig, but only if we happen to run into each other when I'm in my hometown.
Q#1 - My son took the last picture of me, just after Christmas outside on our deck. We were just taking pictures.
Q#2 - As a Canadian, I think I will refrain from any comments on how the White House handles anything.
Q#3 - I'd say that they should get some percentage for helping you after all you are seeking out their help because you don't want to do the leg work on your own, but I'm not so sure they should get such a high percentage of the costs.
Q#4 - I never really had a "best" friend per say when I was younger, I had many friends and I have actually emailed a couple of my friends from those, so many years ago.
1. I think the last time someone took my picture was for my birthday.
2. I really haven't followed the story. Who knows what really happened, but as bad as Dick is, I don't think he'd intentionally shoot his friend.
3. Sure, how else are they going to make money? I think it's only like 2% for most agents anyway, less if they have to split it.
4. My best friend when I was little was Kelly. We are still friends to this day, but rarely see each other or talk on the phone. We email every once in a while to catch up.
Q1- My daughter took my picture this morning with her cell phone to email to her dad who was out of town on business. It's a miracle he returns home- she has a knack for catching me at the most UNphotogenic times.
Q2- I don't find fault with the White House or Mr. Cheney. I can't see how it affects us on a national level. Now, if it had been an intentional shooting, that would be another story. Literally.
Q3- Real estate agents are paid for their knowledge and expertise. We all gripe about their fees, but oftentimes, they more than pay for themselves.
Q4- Her name was Christina. We were two peas in a pod. She moved away and I never heard from her again. There is a friend of my mother's who knw me since I was a tot. I run into her from time to time and get to hear all her stories about Little Rosie...
A1) I'm usually the one doing the snapping.
A2) Didn't really have a thought on this, but with an "accident" of this magnitude, disclosure should always be within 24 hours when it comes to crisis management. The key here is that Cheney believed this was purely a personal matter and didn't warrant any public disclosure. However, there is no such thing as "personal" when you're the Prez or VP.
A3) Commission's are justified, since there is much in the way of negotiation, legal matters, contracts, and real estate law that the typical buyer is not well informed about.
A4) My first best friend (and still to this day) is my cousin.
Q1 - Pictures: I think it was the sheriff's office when I was running a red light. I'm just hoping the resolution is poor enough or the angle is bad enough so it doesn't show me not wearing my seat belt.
Q2 - Vice President Cheney: What happens on a Texas ranch should stay on a Texas ranch. I think the whole incident should have been swept under the carpet. They were out hunting, an accident occurred, and like adults, they dealt with it. Cheney feels bad enough. Leave the poor guy alone.
Q3 - Real Estate: I think real estate agents should get a flat fee per property they sell. Does it really take that much more effort to sell a $1.5 million house than it takes to sell a $94,000 house?
Q4 - Best Friends: Bestest friend was Pat Elmer, "Emo," and as soon as we set off to different high schools, that was about the end of it. I went back to one grammar school reunion a few years ago, I think it was our 25th, and it was a little weird. Those were some of the best years of my life, but going back made me feel as though the person who attended grade school as me was dead and gone. I didn't feel a connection with the past.
