FOUR FOR FRIDAY
Q1 - Holiday: If you could celebrate any holiday twice in one year, which one would it be, and what time of the year would you celebrate it for a second time?
Q2 - Constitution : In your opinion, which of the following issues most needs to be addressed by a Constitutional Amendment: Balanced Budget, Flag Burning, Gay Marriage, Privacy Rights, Something Else, or the Constitution is Fine As Is and Does Not Need Any Further Amendments Right Now?
Q3 - Computer Applications: Last week, Google announced that it would soon launch Google Spreadsheet, a web-based application that someday may compete with Microsoft Excel. How do you feel about web-based applications and programs verses having applications like Microsoft Office (which include Word and Excel) loaded directly onto your computer's hard drive? In other words, all things being equal, do you think you'd ever switch from Microsoft Excel (or Word) to a program like Google Spreadsheet, or do you like the control and comfort associated with having your computer programs and applications right on your own hard drive?
Q4 - Trash: What was the last thing you threw into a trashcan?

1. Labor Day. I LOVE the fall!
2. Balanced Budget. Why can't our government figure this out? Spend what you make. Or make what you need to spend (government has a unique ability on this one, people can't just raise taxes and make more money for themselves). Without an amendment, I don't think our bozo politicians will ever be able to get this one right.
3. I like things on my machine, but I also have no idea what all the fuss about MySpace is about, but 1/2 my company is addicted to it. I think the next generations of computer users will have no issue at all using web based applications.
4. I threw away a couple days of newspapers this morning, to the recyle bin of course.
Q1 - Holiday: Halloween. You get to dress up and knock on stragers' doors for free candy. Life doesn't get much better than that. I'd have it in March, because March is really the cruellest month; it needs something fun.
Q2 - Constitution : Balanced Budget. As individuals, we shouldn't live beyond our means, and since we are the government, that principle should extend into the government.
Q3 - Computer Applications: If I remember correctly, Microsoft tried to foist the idea of rental applications on users a couple years ago, and the company took some lumps for it in the media. I hope the industry doesn't start making us rent applications online, but that seems to be the current course. We'll all be essentially working at coin-op workstations and paying through the nose. I want a one-time fee, and I want the app on my computer.
Q4 - Trash: My sandwich wrapper... a piece of Saran wrap.
1. I like Halloween. Maybe we can celebrate it in January or February when it's cold and dreary, this way there is something fun and colorful going on.
2. Privacy rights. I thought we lived in America, land of the FREE. What is this world coming to? Some people are so quick to allow the gov't into our personal lives in the name of "homeland security". It's just an excuse the gov't fat cats give us to spy on us and take away more of our rights.
3. Definitely keep the applications on my hard drive. I don't want to deal with that over the internet.
4. A tissue.

1. Halloween, natch!
2. Given the way our privacy is being systematically stripped away by the current administration with nary a whimper from those who should be safeguarding it, I'm gonna go with Privacy rights, but the Balanced Budget is a close second. If I can't spend like a drunken sailor on shore leave, the government shouldn't either.
3. I'd prefer to stay with a hard-drive based app. After working in IT and seeing the consequences of even a localized communications interruption would make me leery of using anything web-based that I'd consider essential.
The blister pack for some Yve's veggie sausage patties I had for breakfast this morning.
Hey Mikal!
1> New Year's Eve. I'd put the second one in August.
2> Privacy Rights.
3> I like having applications on my hard drive, for the simple reason that all things are almost never equal. The quality of my connection can vary tremendously from one place to another. That said, I wouldn't hesitate to use web-based applications. I just wouldn't want to rely on them.
4> A small stack of of water-damaged copies of a "Digging for the Truth" comic book I illustrated for The History Channel.
1. i actually do celebrate my wedding anniversary twice. we eloped in secret so there's that date but late on we had a public wedding (no one but the minister knew it was a shame) so there's that date too. its been a lot of fun celebrating twice every year!
2. balanced budget.
3. as a taurus, i generally don't switch things, even when i probably should.
4. take out trash from last nights dinner
my comments are up on my blog.
1. It would probably be the "Durga Puja" festival, a 5 day fun filled affair that happens in several parts of India.
2. For the US constitution, I believe it two amendments - one major and one minor-
A) The electoral college for the Presidential elections needs to be abolished. It is completely discriminatory and frequently non-representative, hardly worthy of a democracy!
B) The penny needs to be abolished. So much metal, so much hassle for a worthless piece of currency, whose only value is sentimental.
3. Not till I am assured of security (something better than 128 bit encryption) and till internet speeds are standardized all over the world.
4. Gift wrapping from presents given to my newborn daughter.

Anyone know what happened to Mikal?
No worries, he's fine. I'm sure he'll be posting soon.
