FOUR FOR FRIDAY
Q1 - Back Seat Driver: When sitting in the back seat of a car, do you have a preference of which side--passenger or driver--you sit on? What if you were the only passenger sitting in the back... would you have a preference then? Related question: As the driver, do you have a preference of which side a lone back seat passenger sits?
Q2 - Lawsuits: A member of the Rutgers women's basketball team sued Don Imus and CBS on Tuesday, claiming the radio personality's sexist and racist comments about the team damaged her reputation. Kia Vaughn's lawsuit says Imus and his former co-host Bernard McGuirk, along with CBS Corp. and CBS Radio, are legally responsible for damage done to her character and reputation. Do you agree that Vaughn's character and reputation were damaged by Imus' remarks and that she has legitimate cause for action against the caustic radio host?
Q3 - Recall: Toy maker Mattel announced this week that they are voluntarily recalling millions of units of toys because of "impermissible use of lead paint and risks associated with small, high-powered magnets." Have you been affected by Mattel's recall? If not, when was the last time you were directly impacted by a mandatory or voluntary product recall?
Q4 - Impressions: If you could get away with it and do it extremely well, whose voice would you impersonate for an entire workday?

Q1 - Back Seat Driver: My preference, both as a driver and passenger, is to sit behind the passenger seat.
Q2 - Lawsuits: At best, Vaughn's efforts are unworthy of serious attention. What's next... is she going to sue a play-by-play sports broadcaster who said her on-the-court performance really sucked? Playa, please!
Q3 - Recall: While I have a strong attraction (no pun intended) to small high-powered magnets, I have never been affected by a recall.
Q4 - Impressions: Barry White. And once again, enough said :-)
1. It depends. If I like the driver more than the passenger in the front seat, or, if I do not want to talk to the passenger, I sit behind the passenger. If I like them equally, I sit in the middle. Same goes the other way around. As a driver I definitely prefer the back seat person to sit behind the passenger, or in the middle seat in the back.
2. No. I think the whole thing is dumb.
3. I've never been affected by a recall, but, does anyone know how they send the recall out? Like get people's addresses from the computer, or is that why cashiers always ask for you phone # now? I'm always worried that I have some recalled item but I never got notified about it...
4. Christopher Walken all the way. He's the funniest guy, and his voice doesn't change from movie to movie, so everyone would recognize it (everyone awesome, that is). "I got a fever, and the only prescription, is more cowbell." hahahahaha
1. I usually like to be behind the passenger seat, but as a solo, I generally wind up on the hump so I can converse with both front seat people. I always want a single back seat passenger to be on the passenger side, primarily for conversational purposes, but also because as a driver I'm tall enough that my seat is all the way back and someone trying to squeeze in to that space can be a little tight.
2. The whole world know Imus is a hot head, and after the way CBS handled the situation, everyone knows his opinion doesn't count for jack. If anything Vaughn is better known, and until the lawsuit, probably highly regarded for having such a measured, civil reaction to the whole thing; she's the one damaging her reputation with a pointless lawsuit. I won't even start in about $@#*$& lawsuits in this country...
3. I've never been affected by a recall, that I'm aware of, but as I understand it, there are literally thousands of product recalls that are just never made anywhere near as public as this Mattel recall.
4. Not at my current job, but at some past jobs, I would have loved to impersonate my boss for a day and just repeat everything he says back to him so he can hear how rediculous and inane he sounds.
Q1: Don't care really, although usually it is easier to talk to the driver from the passenger side.
Q2: No, while I think it was very distasteful, rude, and disrespectful for her to be called a "nappy headed ho", I don't think it has tarnished her reputation at all. Sadly if anything, it has given her recognition. I think there are few people that even follow women's basketball, let along knew anything about the Rutgers team. So, for better or worse, this has brought them alot of publicity, most of it positive in my mind, due to the outrageous (and in most people's minds untrue) nature of the comments. While I certainly do not agree with what was said, I still think someone has the right to say it if they want to without being legally "fined".
Ok, last try. I realized my Q3 and Q4 answers were from last week, doh.
Q3: I have been having an increase of headaches lately. Does Mattel put the paint on Dr. Pepper cans?
Q4: Probably Meatwad from Aqua Teen Hunger Force, or Yoda.
Q1- I like to sit behind the Passenger...that way I can't be seen or have to make eye contact with the driver through the rear view mirror. That makes me uncomfortable.
Q2- That is part of being an athlete under the camera...microscope. If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. "There is what happens, and what you choose to believe." She is the one that is letting what was said affect her reputation.
Q3- I was not affected, all of my toys are sound as a pound. I had an oil cap recall on my car, because the safety instructions or warning was written in Japanese.
Q4- Jeremy Hanks, the CEO of our company. I would make numerous phone calls to members, fellow employees, and the president of the United States.
I would leave a voicemail message documenting as evidence the enormous raise of Jake Sabey.
Q1 - I think behind the passenger seat so you can see them better. For either way.
Q2 - Give me a break! If his comments had been directed at HER, and her NAME had been dragged through the mud as a result, then possibly, but as a member of a team, no way. She may have been offended and insulted, but she was not personally slandered.
Q3 - With Mattel's last recall, I had to check several toys, but those I had were purchased prior to the date in question. I have to look into this latest one, but my guess is it will be the same thing. Last recall I was affected by was Playskool's talking workbench thing which had a screw that no kid could possibly choke on - it was HUGE. But I got a $50 voucher for returning the screws but not the rest of it. Pretty cool for a toy the kids weren't playing wtih anyhow.
Q4 - No one I can think of.
Q1 - Back Seat Driver: I sit in the middle since I get carsick easily. As a diver, I like people behind the passenger seat.
Q2 - Lawsuits: Let's see, how can I put this delicately: Hell No! No one knows who she is. No one knows she was referred to that way. Sticks and Stones people!
Q3 - Recall: Not this one, but the one before we were. Maybe we should quit letting the Chinese make all our stuff if they can't get their act together?
Q4 - Impressions: Jason Bourne.
1. Back Seat Driver: I have no preference as to which side I sit. Just whichever has the most room. If it's just me, I sometimes sit in the middle. As driver, I usually prefer they sit on the passenger side because I always have my seat all the way back.
2. Lawsuits: Generally agree with everybody else. I for one never had a clue who these women were before Imus, and frankly didn't care after Imus. But now that I hear Vaughn is suing, I think she's a psycho. So like Greg said, she is damaging her own reputation and she should be suing herself!
3. Recall: The extent of the affect of Mattel's recall on me is one of my boys asked, "What's a Mattel?"
I have been directly affected by two past recalls. One was a recall of a child seat. The company sent us replacement parts for it. The second was for a Mercury Sabre I owned. I called the dealer and they asked me a couple questions and told me not to worry about it.
But to answer Emily's question, this is one reason you want to register the products you purchase (with the registration card that is usually included). That's how the manufacturer knows you own one of their products, and knows how to contact you in the case of a recall.
4. Impressions: Mmm... I'd want it to be a very well known and easily recognizable voice. Don Imus? Just kidding. Maybe Casey Kasem, Montgomery "Scotty" Scott, or something really weird like Soundwave from the original Transformers cartoon or Mumm-Ra from Thundercats.
Q1: No preference on back seat position
Q2: No idea
Q3: I haven't been personally affected, but I do believe there is a lack of quality control on products coming out of China.
Q4: Johnny Depp's interpretation of Jack Sparrow or Chris Farley's Matt Foley
Q1 ñ I usually try and sit where thereís the most leg room, but sometimes I just end up sitting on whatever side is closest to me when Iím walking to the car. If the drive is for any extended period of time, I usually end up in the middle, leaning forward into the front seat area so I feel part of the conversation. As a driver I usually like them to sit behind the passenger so I can scoot my seat way back.
Q2 ñ Crap. I need to stay more current with the news. I really donít know anything about it. I have no idea who either of those people are or what they said about each other.
Q3 ñ I have not been affected by it, but that could be because I havenít heard about it. I do like small, high-powered magnets, so thereís a chance I own the toy and havenít heard about the recall. The last recall I was affected by was for a part for my car. I had to take it into the dealer and have it replaced.
Q4 ñ Elwon Bakly. If I could be him, that would mean I could also do all of his impersonations. I guess itís kind of cheating, but by being able to do a perfect impersonation of him, I also get pretty decent impersonations of several other people/characters. It would be like 10 impersonations for the price of one. :)
Back Seat Driver: When I'm driving, I don't care who sits where. When I riding in the back I want to sit behind who ever is smallest so I have the extra leg room.
Lawsuits: There are too many people out there filing law suites for no reason at all. It seams that if a bird pooped on you, you could file a law suite and make millions. Imus has been punished ENOUGH! Vaugns's reputation is fine. For crying out loud, she needs to buck up and stop acting like a child.
Recall: I have never been impacted by a recall. My parents had their Firestone tires recalled 10 years ago or so. That is the closest I've come to feeling the impact of a recall.
Impressions: I'd have to say it would be Chris Farley. That guy was one of the funniest people on television / movies before he overdosed. Ooops!
A1) I never really thought a bout it, but I always sit behind the passenger side. It is easier to look at the driver. (especially if he is HOT! jk)
A2) No, people cant hid what they truly are. Sooner or later it will come out, some just try to be tricky about it. Most of the time it doesn't work, so they have to blame someone for it.
A3) No, I have not been affected.
A4) Defenitly some sort of singer. I love to sing, but cant say that I am that good at it...If i sang like a guy that would be weird, so I pick...Celine Dion.
q1: i prefer the more leg room seat. otherwise usually behind the passenger.
q2: no her reputation before and after the incident with me has not changed (she has no reputation...I can't even remember her name now--and I just read it a minute ago). lame loss suit period.
q3: no, i don't think so. at least not one i've acted on.
q4: i would do #5 from Short Circuit. i like how it mouth opened side to side instead of up and down.
1) I almost always drive, so I always feel uncomfortable anywhere but the driver's seat.
2) Imus' remarks reflected badly on him and his employer, but little on anyone else. The lawsuit is superfluous.
3) Not affected by Mattel's recall this time around. A couple of our kids' toys have been recalled over the years, most recently in 2004ish.
4) I'd have to go with any Old Scottish accent, because I find it highly amusing. Though my co-workers would probably get tired of me giggling at my own accent halfway through every sentence.
Q1 - Never really thought about this issue and really don't have a preference.
Q2 - To me, it seemed to be a very generalize (and sterotyped) comment. To generalize for any direct damage against one person.
Q3 - Never have been impacted on a product recall.
Q4 - Rodney Dangerfield all the way. That would so rock!
I just changed my mind on #4. The original Troy McClure voiced by Phil Hartman.
Also, stuff is made in China because it's incredibly cheap. If we want cheap, we'll have to put up with the stuff put together by child slave labor and corner cutting at every corner. At least until we can get our hands on Lipson's fabrication machine "printer":
[search for "fabrication machine" at popsci.com]
Personally, I think Lipson built that in an attempt to fabricate himself a girlfriend.
My first week doing this meme, and I enjoyed it.
I listed the questions and answers on my own site.
I hope that was okay.

1) I have no preference either way. I don't see much difference and I don't really pay attention to the road if I am not driving.
2) I don't think she has any legitimate cause for action. When you play sports, the commentators and announcers are going to say things about you. It may be good or it may be bad, but I don't think she has any grounds to sue.
3) I was not affected by Mattel's recall and I can't recall ever being directly impacted by any recall.
4) James Earl Jones. Then I could do a wicked Darth Vader impersonation.
Q1 - I have no preference of where passengers sit, as long as my girlfriend (Cecie) is sitting next to me.
Q2 - If she has a case, then Imus should be suing himself for damaging his own reputation.
Q3 - I haven't been affected by the Mattel recall and have only been mildly affected by recalls. I tossed a couple foil bags of cat food over the pet food scare and just dumped a small can of Kroger chili after the recent botulism warning.
Q4 - Christopher Walken.
I always post my comments and then go back through and read the others. Emily Cox rocks! Christopher Walken all the way.
1. If I sit in the back, I like to sit behind the front passenger's seat. If I'm driving and someone is sitting in the back, it's good for them to also sit behind the front passenger's seat so I can see them easier if we're chatting.
2. Whatever...I haven't been following this controversy and I could care less about Imus.
3. Not affected by the toy recall. Only recall was on the radio on my new car. It needed to be replaced a few months after I bought the car.
4. Donald Duck, just to annoy people (for fun), although, it would probably be rough on the vocal chords.
Fun! My answers are here:
www.headinknots.com
1. I like to sit on the passenger side. Same if someone's riding in the back. Call me paranoid, but I don't like people sitting or standing close behind me.
2. Another silly lawsuit. If anything the whole kerfuffle brought her to the attention of more people than usually hear about even professional female basketball players, and as a rather sympathetic victim... until this lawsuit, that is.
3. Not affected personally, but my brother's going through his son's many Thomas the Tank Engine toys. The last recall I've been hit with was on my old truck... something about the brake line being too close to the catalytic converter and making the brake fluid boil.
4. Pinky, from Pinky & the Brain
