FOUR FOR FRIDAY - THE 'OTHER PEOPLE'S QUESTIONS' EDITION
Q1 - Jerry Chrisman Asks: What is one of your favorite words?
Q2 - Steve Lindhorst Asks: How do react when you are out in public and approached by someone carrying a clipboard asking for your signature on a petition or requesting that you participate in a survey?
Q3 - Jake Sabey Asks: I have a friend that I have never seen wear blue jeans, a friend who claims to never have tried Ketchup, and yet another friend who cannot help but say "Bless You" immediately upon hearing someone--anyone--sneeze. What do your friends or peers know you for?
Q4 - Katie Hanks Asks: Have you ever met anyone famous? If so who and where?

1. What is one of your favorite words?: Bastie. It's not really a word, but I love it. A close second is Copacetic. It almost sounds like mouth wash, but it's not.
2. The really long Lindhorst question: I hold the desire to kill them within myself, because I know that would be socially unacceptable.
3. The really long Sabey question: For using made up words to insult people, like "bastie." Others know me for being a better card player than they are, the basties bah hahaha!!!
4. Have you ever met anyone famous?: Well, let's see. There is that Steve Lindhorst guy who I met at eBay Live! in Boston. Speaking of eBay folks, I've had Meg Whitman and Pierre Omidyar both put their arm around me... AT THE SAME TIME! That was at the eBay building in South Salt Lake County. A few semi-famous people: Mark Eaton, Mike Brown (both at Pep Boys in SLC when I worked there), Dan Pope (I made a key for him when I worked at Wal Mart), Lee Johnson, Via Sikahema (both at my elementary school in Orem, Utah shortly after BYU won the 1984 football championship), Luke Johnson (of the Luke Johnson Phone Experiement... I worked with him at ah-ha.com), Dell Schanze (before he lept off the cliff of sanity, at an Orem martial arts dojo... we sparred), the Air Guard guy that played the environmentally friendly Mad Max in the "Keep Utah Clean" PSA's (at the Air Guard base in SLC), and of course the one and only Mikal Belicove. So to answer your question... no.
1. Onomatopoeia and Muzjiks.
2. I fake a seizure, just like I do when my wife asks if her clothes make her look fat.
3. Ridiculously nerdy knowledge, like Excel formulas and words like muzjiks.
4. Meadowlark Lemon and Steve Young in Boise at the Humanitarian Sports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, Patricia Heaton and Mike Eruzione at an Albertson's convention in Dallas, Ty Detmer at my elementary school in Orem the year he won the Heisman, and Alison Krauss in Sun Valley, Idaho.
1. SERIOUSLY. Thanks to Grey's Anatomy. I seriously say that word all of the time.
2. I run away or just simply ignore the person. If its a hot guy, I flirt and pretend to be interested. Then, I promise to sign if he'll take me to dinner.
3. I am known for my smile. People always tell me I am always smiling. :)
4. My boyfriend is Wentworth Miller. Does that count?
Favorite word: I don't think I have a favorite. "Free" would rank right up there though.
Clipboard: I will avoid them at all costs. I'll use another entrance, or if that's not possible I'll go to the store next door. As a protest more than anything.
My friends... know me for making an excellent martini and knowing things that are interesting but ultimately pretty useless.
Famous people I have met include (in no particular order):
- Pierre Omidyar in the bathroom at eBay
- Meg Whitman, Steve Balmer, both at eBay
- Red Skelton after one of his shows when I was a teenager
- Rodney Dangerfield, after a show
- Muhammad Ali, a few times in Michigan. We lived near each other
- Singer Jonathan Richman, several times after shows
- Steven R. Schirripa (Bobby Bacala on the Sopranos), Dallas-Fort Worth Airport
- Jay Leno at SEMA in Las Vegas a couple years ago
- Norman Mailer in his apartment in Brooklyn - we were once neighbors. He buzzed me in thinking I was a guest for one of his parties. Boy did I feel dumb
- Mikal Belicove - first met in Las Vegas
Q1: My favorite word is mellifluous because I heard a live band host an impromptu contest during a contest to anyone in the audience who could define it. If you are curious, it is an adjective and is something that is sweet-sounding. My challenge to you: use it in a sentence before the next Four For Friday!
Q2: If I am approached by someone with a clipboard, I typically avoid them. Unless, of course, I am totally bored with nowhere to go and nothing to do, in which case I will hear them out and probably play devil's advocate to whatever they are selling or promoting. It's my little way of sticking it to the man. Wait, I am the man, so I guess I'm sticking it to myself - HA!
Q3: My friends probably know me for drinking Yerba Mata with a curious hand carved gourd and ornate bombilla. My 95 year old grandmother is convinced that I am doing something illegal, but I tell her it is just loose leaf tea from South America. "Uh, huh, South America, eh?"
Q4: I have met a few famous people. I met Harry Connick, Jr. and his super model wife at a Mardi Gras party when I was in College. I also grew up with Peyton Manning in New Orleans and played a game of pick up football with him in high school.
