FOUR FOR FRIDAY
Q1 - Cell Phone Usage: According to an article I just read, there are two types of public transportation passengers: those who hate it when you whip out your cell phone and start yakking away, and the yakers themselves, who feel freedom to communicate is a natural born right. Some cities have instituted no-cell phone zones on trains and buses while others maintain an honor system. Do you think cell phone usage should be limited or banned on public transportation?
Q2 - Keychain: Are the keys on your keychain ordered in a specific way or are they slapped onto the ring in random order.
Q3 - Couch Potato For a Day: What TV-show marathon would keep you on your couch all day?
Q4 - Happy: Someone asked me the other day, "Are you happy?" (and not as in, are you happy right now but in general). How do you define happiness?

Q1 - Cell Phone Usage: This is a free country, and restricting somebody from talking with a friend in public seems kind of wrong to me. On the other hand, I do find rude people to be, well, rude. I don't like it, but taking something away just because the majority don't like it is dangerous.
Q2 - Keychain: There is an order to it. The ones I use on one side, and the ones that I have no idea what they're for on the other.
Q3 - Couch Potato For a Day: The original Star Trek or Battlestar Galactica (both the original and remake) would both do it for me. Yes, I am a geek.
Q4 - Happy: I never studied philosophy in school, so my answer is very simple. If I'm not sad, I must be happy. Now, as long as you don't ask me how I define sadness, we're good.
1- I say that if you're willing to share your life and conversation with total strangers, talk away. I can see why some might be bothered, so I think the idea of a no-cell phone zone makes some pretty good sense.
2- I have groupings: door keys, vehicle keys, lock keys, and keys I can't remember what they're for.
3- I'm really more inclined to spend all day on a couple sporting events, like the opening weekend of March Madness, of some of the high density days during bowl season, but if I had to pick a TV show, I'd probably go with either Futurama or Family Guy.
4- To me, happiness is part progress, part comfort/accomplishment. Like right now, I'd call myself generally happy because I have a positive direction and I'm moving there from a personally positive place; moving toward an interesting career and have some good family support and sufficient resources for my needs.
1) I would really like it if people had a booth or somehting to go into when they where using ther phone. Most people who answer ther phones in public like to talk loud enough so every one with in 100 foot radius knows what they are having a conversation about.
2)I have mine in a order. House at top, office in middle and cars on bottom.
3)John and kate plus eight. I know it seems Like I am not that type, but I freakin love that show.
4) I define happiness as in the moment, when people ask me. As it stands I have a great life and am not sad or stressed about life.
Q1 - Why does this bug people? We're all cell phone users, right? Everyone has subjected someone else to listening to a one-sided conversation in some situation. Suddenly it's a national pet peeve. Just keep your conversation at a reasonable volume level and relatively clean, and I don't care.
Q2 - Random.
Q3 - Full seasons of shows that I like, but only have seen a few episodes of. Sopranos, Flight of the Conchords, Biggest Loser, Medium, maybe Firefly, Carpoolers, The Venture Brothers or anything by Tim and Eric. And I could always watch 30 Rock or The Office (BBC version), and I still need to see seasons 5, 6 and 7 of Big Brother.
Q4 - Happiness to me is general contentment. It's not joy and it's not anything extreme. It's just being satisfied with what your life is, what you're doing every day, who you are spending your time with, what you're learning and who you are becoming.
Q1: I can't say I would go as far as to ban it (at least on public transportation) because I think there are certainly people who can have a phone conversation respectably. I do however feel embarrassed for alot of people who seem to have no regard for what's going on around them, but maybe some people like to appear obnoxious and loud.
Q2: Man, they are ordered, and it screws me up everytime I forget that and take one off and put it back wherever. That's what I get for having 2 of the same kind of car. I actually have to tell them apart by the wear on the key.
Q3: I don't think there is one that could keep me all day...but if there was it would probably be Heroes. Its nice to finally find some people that are like me, and find some answers to what is happening to me.
Q4: I would say that its hard to answer the "Are you happy?" question honestly. If you were to peel away all the protective emotional and rationalization layers that get piled on and look inside and not feel guilty about anything in your life, then I would call that happiness. So I guess it has to do with how you feel about yourself much more than anything external.
Q1 - I hate it, but I don't want any more regulations. We are regulated enough. I'd rather see it banned in car, unless it's handsfree.
Q2 - Totally random
Q3 - Arrested Development - The greatest show nobody watched.
Q4 - Good friends, no real worries. And sadly, some extra cash...
1. CELL PHONE USE: No one should limit or ban cellphone use in private, public, or semi-public spaces. A cell phone is merely a tool for communicating, i.e. for a conversation. Government should stay out of our business. What's next? A ban on actual verbal conversation, person-to-person? Give me a break! Lee McD
2. KEY CHAIN: My office key is at one end (and of a certain color) and my house key is at the other end (and of a different color).
3. MARATHON FOR A DAY: South Park, The Ozbournes, Meerkat Manor, Seinfeld, Weeds, The Sopranos, Queer as Folk, Family Guy.
4. HAPPINESS: Peaceful times, friends, acceptance, freedom, and financial security.
1. There should be some kind of etiquette using cell phone. Although it shouldn't be banned, I think people are going to get rude with you sooner or later if you don't control volume of talking. In japan, while I was visiting, people seem to know this while riding a train or whatever. They actually cup their hand around their mouth and cell receiver while talking, which is much better. The worst: people who talk using the blue tooth phone while looking right at you.. "wha you talkin' to me?" "no not you"
2. I only know the one key (car). I think I still have a door key to a apartment I haven't lived in 4 years ago.
3. National Geographic or something, I love science. I can watch the life cycle of a bee and be entertained...even without bong hits!
4. Happiness is learning something new and changing yourself for the better. Just feeling and giving love and enjoying simple things with your family and friends. It's also understanding that when you're old you should act young sometimes, but also understanding that having sex when you're 80 is just plain nasty.
Q1 - Cell Phone Usage: I am all for the freedom to communicate HOWEVER, I wish people in general would be more courteous.
Q2 - Keychain: The only key on my key chain is to my car. I don’t own a key to anything.
Q3 - Couch Potato For a Day: So many to choose from … MTV Cribs (just about anything on MTV)
Q4 - Happy: Happiness is feeling connected to people.
1) I don't think it should be "banned" per se, but I am all for the social pressure and the frowny faces when people do it. You get alot of that here in Portland Oregon, and rightfully so. But to institute a law? Come on, why don't we focus on more pressing problems.
2) The keys are in random order, tried to order it at one time but it would always get whacko when I had to take a key off the ring. Now I DO have color coded keys... that's a god send.
3) The Wire or Rescue Me
4) Happiness to me is the absence of free-floating anxiety or generalized dread. I am happy in the fact that I have so many blessings in my life and all that I need to be happy.
1. Cell phone usage in any public place or on public transportation annoys me. I don't want to hear someone else's phone conversation if I am trying to relax on a train ride, at the airport, in a cafe or anywhere. The thing I can't stand is when I am in the middle of a conversation with someone and their cell phone rings and they answer it because, god forbid they actually don't answer it and, oh my goodness, miss the call. Some people I know are very rude and are constantly on their cell phones when they don't really need to be or when it is inappropriate. I think cell phones (and computers) have made us less able to be truly present to others and ourselves.
2. My keys are in no particular order.
3. Marathons shows...probably a series on HBO that I have been wanting to watch but haven't had time to. Top Chef or Project Runway, but only if I had missed a particular season.
4. For me, happiness is being loved and in love and finding that one thing that I am passionate about. True happiness is already within us all, it is up to each one of us to bring it out. Of course there are other goals I would like to reach that would make me happy, but ultimately, being able to love myself completely would bring great joy, and possibly great love.

Mine is up!
1. Banned. Not just on public transport, but in most public areas. I could do without hearing the results of your Aunt Crapula's pap smear, and I'm probably not alone. And would Aunt Crapula want passersby on the street to know even a part of her medical history?
2. Random order. But I've become used to the order they're in.
3. Everyday Italian with Giada
4. I'm content. Happiness is arbitrary and shifts on a whim at times.
Q1: I'm not big on banning anything. I think people should be educated on proper cell phone etiquette and know that it's rude to talk on a cell phone in a public place... especially those idiots who speak 20 decibels louder than their normal volume level. When I answer my cell phone (actually my wife's cell phone), I always walk away to a place where nobody is, so I don't bother them. Otherwise, I don't answer it.
Q2: Mostly random, except I keep my little plastic cards grouped together.
Q3: Twilight Zone (old show), Alfred Hitchcock Presents, or The Outer Limits. Nothing new would keep me on the couch all day.
Q4: My happiness relies a great deal on whether the people around me are happy (my immediate family). If they're not happy, I usually assume it is due to something I've done or haven't done or their inability to appreciate that the hard work I do is making their lives much better. Maybe I need to talk to a therapist.
Q1 - I know they're annoying but I don't agree with banning them. I try to limit my public conversations, but I know that I also try to utilize my time the best I can, which means using my cell.
Q2 - On my main keyring, the house keys are together, the bedroom door key is with the safe deposit box key and the car key is by itself. My spare keys are more random, but have less keys. Then there is my work keychain, which has no rhyme or reason.
Q3 - I don't watch much tv at all. Maybe some of the Lifetime dramas (the series, not the cheesy movies - they're actually good shows)
Q4 - Funny, I just encountered this question from an old high school friend. I try to appreciate the good in my life at all times. With the current stressors, it makes it difficult some days, and I'd say I'm not as happy as I have been, but overall I would say I am. A good sense of humor/outlook is key.
