Q1 - Food: A friend of mine insists certain foods are exclusively "outdoor" foods, while others are exclusively "indoor" foods. For example, he says pizza is an indoor food, and hot dogs are meant to be eaten exclusively outdoors. Do you agree, and if so, what would classify as indoor or outdoor foods?

Q2 - Wasteful: The United Negro College Fund (UNCF) -- an educational assistance organization with 40 private, historically black, member colleges and universities -- coined the phrase "A mind is a terrible thing to waste" back in the early-1970's (actually, it was Forest Long, an advertising executive with Young and Rubicam, who developed the tagline for UNCF). Aside from money, water, gas, electricity, hot dogs, and pizza, what else do you feel is a terrible thing to waste?

Q3 - Research: According to research conducted by the Pew Internet and American Life Project, nearly 70% of all American adults have used the Internet to get help with personal economic issues related to the recession and to gather information about the origins and solutions to national economic problems. Those hard hit by the recession are among the most avid and wide-ranging Internet users searching for advice and understanding. Some 52% of American adults have either lost their jobs, seen their investments fall by more than half their value, suffered a pay cut, watched their house lose half its value, or lost their job outright during the downturn in the past year. How about you... have you recently gone online to search out information specifically related to an impact brought on by the recession?

Q4 - Performance: Fifty-one percent of likely voters now say they disapprove of the President's job performance, according to the latest Zogby Poll. How would you rate the President's job performance: Excellent, Good, Fair, or Poor?

Q1: Not sure I fully agree, but the notion is interesting. It kind of depends, though. I normally consider pork chops an indoor food, but poke a stick in it, and it's an outdoor food. I frequently eat hot dogs indoors, but they do make a great outdoor food, so do burgers. Peanuts in the shell are definitely outdoor, as is watermelon, especially the variety with seeds.

Q2: Talent, money, opportunity.

Q3: Yes. I consult numerous Web resources for information I need for just about everything - recipes, medical advice, workouts and stretches, movie releases, etc. In terms of work, I use the Web to research freelance opportunities, jobs, information about companies I want to work with or for, contact information for personnel at those companies, freelancer rates, pay scales for different jobs, etc. I also look for ways to save money. Recently, I was prescribed medication that cost me over $70 for a month's supply. I was able to get the same stuff from HealthWarehouse for less than half price.

Q4: How 'bout TERRIBLE? I think Ron Paul is right - when it comes to government, less is more. Eventually, we're going to suffer for this massive squandering of money that began with Bush and worsened with Obama. In addition, I was expecting Obama to be an outstanding communicator, and he has fallen far short. For example, he should have had some address to the nation clearly explaining his healthcare plan. He can't even manage to do that? Can't he even put together a PowerPoint presentation?! I'm extremely disappointed in his performance or lack thereof at this point.

Q1 - I probably thought that in earlier years, but less so now that I live in Sarasota, Florida. Here the lifestyle is leisurely, outdoorsy and eating outdoors is the norm at almost every restaurant.

Q2 - Wasting one's life is the worst waste in my opinion. I don't believe that every minute must be filled with frenzied activity,(those people drive me nuts)(those people are vainly searching for meaning) but learning nothing new for periods of time is shameful.

Q3 - Yes, I did some research to re-allocate my greatly diminished portfolio.

Q4 - I rate the "leadership" as very poor. I tend to be, small government is better government in philosophy. The lack of statesmanship in favor of partisan politics has severely damaged our system.

Q1: Hot dogs are tastier outdoors, it's true. But anything goes for me.

Q2: Youth.

Q3: Not specifically. no. And aside from a huge drop in the value of our home, we haven't (thank God) been too terribly affected by the situation.

Q4: Not happy. Not surprised.

1. This is interesting. I understand that many people would think that outdoor food means 'ready to consume on the go,' but I'll happily shell a bucket of peanuts while watching a movie. I think my definition of indoor foods extends to the sort of stuff we eat when we're confined indoors due to cold, northern hemisphere weather. Hearty stews, casseroles and ragouts as compared to the minimalism of the grill.

2. What's a waste? People who force nudge their offspring into lives they want instead of what the child wants. A sure-fire way to guarantee passive aggressive behavior at best and familial estrangement otherwise.

3. No more than I normally have.

4. Good. He's not the Be-all and End-all, but anything that counters the Cheney administration is a welcome change.

This is what happens when an inexperienced extremist from the Chicago corruption machine is elected into the office of the President of the USA.

Q1- I think that food is food and I like to eat it indoors and out!

Q2-Creativity is a terrible thing to waste.

Q3-I use the Internet for everything but I can't really think of anything specific I've researched brought on by the recession.

Q4-I agree with Mike.

meagen, mike -

u agree with the white house sending out unsolicited emails to people who never contacted the white house directly?

u agree with a national deficit that has grown by $2 trillion in 7 months' time?

a mind used to research issues is a terrible thing to waste, meagen. i can see why you cling to creativity - u obviously need it right now.

Wow anonymous poster. You are one angry person. Obama is Bush on steroids. You should be happy. You keep coming in here and attacking people you don't even know... like it's going to save the country somehow. Well, I'm sure Mikal would like to believe that his blog is so incredibly influential that posting angry rants on it will change the world, but I simply don't think that's the case. Now, on to business!

Q1 - Food: No, I would dare say that any food can be eaten inside or out. Although if I was forced to make a decision on this, I'd probably say that foods which are traditionally grilled AND are typically eaten with the hands (hot dogs, hamburgers, ribs, etc) would be outdoor foods.

Q2 - Wasteful: Humm... opportunity? Specifically the opportunity to take a ride on an alien ship.

Q3 - Research: Can't say that I have. However, I once wrote a blog post with quick tips on dealing with the tough economic times. One of them was "Don't lose your job," with ideas on how to prevent job loss. I broke all of my own rules and was laid off just a couple months later. I'm a sucker for tempting fate.

Q4 - Performance: I would say "poor," which doesn't really differ from President to President. I say that because I believe that pretty much anybody who vies for the Presidency shouldn't be President, even me. Although it would be okay to make me supreme dictator.

Excellent FFF!

1. Smores are definitely outdoor food and sushi is definitely indoor food.

2. Happiness is a terrible thing to waste.

3. I absolutely love http://www.mint.com and I also enjoy http://money.cnn.com/ for articles and info regarding personal finance.

4. Excellent. I don't think people understand the enormous challenges this president has taken on and the time and extraordinary steps that it will take to turn things around. Having said that, he is far from perfect and has had his blunders, like every human being. Less government is great and all in theory, but would we be prepared for the reality of massive poverty, starvation, and death that would occur if the government were not involved at all - I think not because allowing that to happen would be extremely un-American!
