I'd love to see the formula that shows how many calories you should consume to maintain a weight.

Do you have it?

I guess I could google it.

Doug:

Here ya go...

1. Your weight x 10 = the number of calories you can consume in a day to keep you at your current weight. Example: If you weigh 200 lbs... x 10 = 2,000 calories in order to maintain a weight of 200 lbs..

2. Staying with the 200 lb. example, anything less than 2,000 calories consumed is considered "calories banked." For example, if you only consume 800 calories, you've banked 1,200.

3. Exercise causes you to burn additional calories. These you add to your calories banked. Example: 800 calories burned thru exercise + 1,200 calories banked = 2,000 total calories banked for the day.

4. The total number of calories you must burn to lose 1 pound is 3,500, so if you divide your calories banked by 3,500, you'll come up with a rough estimate for how much weight you'll shed that day. Example: 2,000 calories banked / 3,500 calories in a pound = .57 lbs.

Hope that helps!

You need to factor in activity level. Weight times 10 is only for a sedetary lifestyle. You need to consume much more if you are healthily active.

I am trying to find a list of what sedentary, light, moderate and so on exercises are that would normally be done in a day. Can anyone tell me where to find one?
Thanks.
